Right on! Storming the forum with as much art as we can is a great idea to get things
running back to the ol sijun style again, is very inspiring to see so many artists
contributing to the cause. Sooo, heres some new pics from me too, not perfect but I
wanted to post em anyways. Put the original sketches with 'em too. Apprecitate your
comments and constructive crit, Cheers.

first image: it's odd, because some parts of the creature are sharp and others are chubby and round. (see his hands versus his hips) I really like his big feet, and his teeth though. The texture on the skin is really cool, looks like he's got goosebumps =) One thing that I don't really like is that the picture is monochrome.

second image: I like the background, very atmospheric. It helps the guy look evil (he's evil, right? he's got glowing eyes!)
I wish this picture told more of a story, since it's so dramatic. There's a lot in common with the previous picture: the purple color, this picture has a head facing in the same direction as the last picture, and it also is lit the same way (lit from the upper right). character portrait?

I like the muscles and stuff in the face, very well done!

third pic: this is really detailed, but sorta messy. it's hard to tell what's going on. I suggest you either ink it or use sharper pencils or something, because a lot of the detail doesn't really shine through. Maybe you could use different values throughout the picture?

also, this picture has the same left-facing same-lighting idea. Do I see a pattern =) ?

Hey Alien, thanks alot for your crit m8, I do appreciate it. well i agree with u on some of the points..

On the first one,
I do think its more interesting to have the contrast in shapes, such as the soft
hands n sharp hips so I don't mind that. Also the alien is meant to be one colour
so thats why he is one colour... xcept his eye n teeth, etc.

second one, yeah i agree it would of been better to make it more of a scene. I was
just messing about for painting practise but then I quite liked it. Maybe I'll
increase the size of the canvas and add more to it.

Third one, mmm. Well I did it while I was doodling but I liked the idea so I scanned
it up. I don't think I would really work it with sharp pencils and shading unless
it was meant to be more a finished piece. I think I might have a go at paiting it
instead. I'll look out for not repeating the same style of lighting too.

Hey , I really dig the top one Cos! You might want to check the anatomy/proportions for the guy though, it looks off.

Binke - Cheers man I'm not sure what you meant about the
anatomy probs with the guy. He is meant to be wearing an
armour under his robe which is why his trap area bumps out
so much and the sharp edge on his shoulder from a pad.. I
think maybe I shoulda said that before or made it more
obvious. (I hope that doesn't sound like I'm making ezcuses!)
I'm not sure if thats what you meant tho.. His ear looks abit
dodgy now I look at it tho, maybe his lips are abit low too.

Joachim - Thanks mate appreciate it. I quite often like
the quicker and looser sketchy stuff more than the worked
pieces aswell.

Milkman - Thanks

I think what Binke means about anatomy problems, or maybe this is just what I see, but I think the his legs are too short, mostly in the calves though.

I really like the hands and arms and how much weight that they have.

Ok this isn't really criticism but just an observation. It could be though that its are just bent a little too much for a non action pose. Thats just a personal thought though.

Don't take my thoughts as laws by anymeans because its far from it.

Hey there mister Koniotis =]

Those are quite nice, creepy things. If I had to comment though, I'd have to say that it's hard for me to relate and understand the muscle structure of the creature with all those lumps, although it definitely gives it a style. =) Maybe giving it more specular to add a slimey look to it? Just an idea really... clichs work well... =)

That guy in the robe is looking cool, but I think his jaw bone should stop before his ear.

I was going to write this up yesterday butI ended up having to leave as I was writing it... =/

Happy holidays dear friend! Hope to sketch along some more over at Kat's soon!

cheers,
frost.

Is the second painting about Yuri?
I have one too but it's not hand-painted.

Maxxy - I think Binke was talking about the guy in the robe..
About what you are saying with the legs/calves on the alien
being too short, Well keep in mind that it is an alien so
It doesn't have a specific anatomy which is right and wrong.
Unless you meant one is shorter than the other? But it doesn't
look like that to me either..

(Now I look at it his right arm looks longer than the other,
and abit flat too...doh! hmmmmm )

Krazy - Thanks =)

Frost - mr.Frosty! hehe, thanks mate. You know i appreciate
your feedback =) yeah i guess the muscle structure coulda been
more thought about, i see your point on that.. I spose it could
be a kinda Ben Grimm The Thing typa body but its not meant to be
like that.. I'll try move in the jawbone on the guy too and see
how that looks. Hey definetely man, we'll sketch/paint some more
soon! Happy xmas!!! =)

Ancri - Yuri?? It's not really based on anyone, just someone I
made up, just another baldy with a tatted forehead and a beardie
i guess =)

Merry Christmas everybody!
