hey everyone. i've searched the forums, and i just wanted input from any of you about which art books would have any inspiration to you. also, i've been inspired by many of the works here and other places which feature gray marker drawings. does anyone happen to know what are some good books which deal with marker techniques? i've searched a bit, but i haven't found much. thank you very much

I've recently purchased "The Artist's Complete Guide to Facial Expression" by Gary Faigin. It helped me out a lot with my Alice art-- I'm still a work in progress though-- But again... That's why I'm reading books

Oh yeah and one more-- "Drawing Human Anatomy" by Giovani Civardi. It's cool cause it breaks down the body into all the seperate muscles and how they function

oh yeah, i've got the Drawing Dynamic anatomy by burne hogarth, and many others by him.

Personally I read a book called "Mustard Seed Garden Painting book" or something like that name, Mustard Seed Garden is definitely in the name.. Anyways. It's a book of classical Chinese painting, and the style is certainly inspirational.. for me, at least.
Also, it's not an art book, but Ashley's Wood's new Spawn spin-off "Hell Spawn"'s style changed my drawing forever. You can get it at all comic stores.

I recently purchased "the art of star wars" Lots of really cool conceptual stuff there, even the conceptual jar binx's looked *tolerable* I find the greatest inspirations can come from things other than art, say... music for one.

sigh i dont get insiration from books only from dhabihs gallerys and other gallerys such as spooge and just bout everyone here but i have many many books to tell me how to do stuff but im to lazy to read them heh right now im reading teh new photoshop book master class or something heh well good luck with your art

Excellent source for proportions and muscle groups

Christopher Hart series.

How to draw Great looking comic Book Women
How to draw Comic Book Heroes and Villains
And
Human Anatomy Made AMAZINGLY Easy.

The last one is great in showing the muscle groups that count when drawing with out having to understand the total human anatomy.

Harts are pretty good. I bought the Hamm book thinking Id get something out of it but I just dont like it... too simplisitic.

You need to get some serious books on anatomy too. Try Drawing on right side of brain, some serious books on anatomy, and some of harts books.

Or just find all my "tips" Ive posted recently.. That should go a long way. Ive some questions myself but theyll wait for later.

heh i mean...not how to draw books...theres a lot of those in the faq. i mean inspirational things, like art of ___ or concept ____ or books that have pictures! and other, and when i meant marker techniques, i mean books like creative marker techniques or books that show doug chiang, or vortx (feng zhu)'s styles
