I would like to compile a list of people here that are doing this whole digital art thing as a profession, be it games, movie, TV, web design...etc. This will be compiled and made part of the forums linked off from perhaps the top of the main page or something like that. I think this may help some people as a resource to different industries for those who are looking to get into a certain field or want to ask something specific of someone in a certain field.

So, if you do digital art as a profession (doesn't mean only in photoshop, just anything art related using the computer for at least part of the work) please reply here and include who you work for, what your company does, and what you do for them....this includes those of you who do freelance work. Just really brief things like for example for me i'd say : I work @ Valve Software who make computer games, and i'm a 2d/3d artist there."

You dont have to include your real name if you dont want...

I'm not sure if this will work...maybe i will only get 1 response, but i think there should be at least a few people here.

The page i will add this to will most likely be accessible from the main forums page along with some other pages i'd like to create, such as the most frequently asked questions on this board and their answers and some other things.

If you know others that work somewhere but maybe dont come here everyday to see this message, please lemme know their info too (if they've already publicly made this info known, i dont want to "out" anyone )

thanks,
-dhab

Ooh, me first! <Stands up in back of crowd, waving hands wildly>

Lead artist/co-founder of Guild Software, a small video game developer. 2d/3d art, textures, etc.

I hereby motion to include applicable URLs in this list.... Might come in handy, though everyone probably has theirs listed under their profile anyway.

I've been working professionally for 2 years Animal Logic in Sydney, Australia, in the Design department. Before that I was a Pizza delivery driver and student of film/design.

I started there doing work for an aborted computer game and stayed on the produce pre-vis illustrations for commercials and do texture art.

Pre-vis illustrations are frames that help sell the 'look' of a particular effects shot to the director, client and crew.

Of late I've branched out into matte paintings and am training to be an FX supervisor/designer. My first love is always doing the illustrative work though

Amoungst other things, I did the concept frames for the Lara Croft/Lucozade commercials, some collaborative concept design for 'Red Planet', and a HK film called 'Gen Y Cops'. I also designed and animated the screen graphics for the telemovie 'On The Beach'.
http://www.animallogic.com/commercials/orange

shows some of the work I've ended up doing for the company that goes beyond simple Photoshop 'digital art'.

Right now I'm working on matte paintings and FX design for 'Moulin Rouge'

I'll try and post some professional work in the near future.

Freelance Graphic Artist, mostly print advertising at the moment. Past clients include Cox Communications, Nations Bank, and Bellsouth Mobility to name a few. However, I am in the process of transferring to web design. (Less hours, less stress, no worries about color seperations)

I work at Innerloop Studios, a small games developer company (24ppl) doing two games at the moment, one for Sega and Infogramme, called Extreme sports. And one for Eidos, called Project IGI, -which I am working on for the moment.

I'm doing animation, modeling, texturing, consept artwork, storyboarding and visual design.
I know it's not as spesialized as many companies choose to have it, but since we are one 4 artists in the company, this is the best suitable way. But, I like that, to not being forced to do the same thing day in and day out.

hmm, sorry, I'm rambling.

the innerloop site: http://www.innerloop.com/
(also with info about the games)

and my site : http://home.online.no/~j-barrum/

I work at a company called Eggington Productions, and primarily do 3D lighting and textures.

We did the art for the PSX game "Rampage Through Time", and are currently doing work for a PS2 game.

We've also done subtantial pre-production on two feature films, one of which is directed by William Joyce.

Additionally, we have our in-house projects, which include www.eggprops.com , and a short involving the Orc character I posted a couple months back.

I'm working professionally as a character animator and simultaneously (on this project at least) as a lead technical director. I primarily use Maya and Renderman. Though I have also dipped into photoshop for touching up the odd frame or for promotional material.

Last worked on the Imax film Cyberworld (yea, the film is as cheesy as the title) and am now working on some commerical stuff.

okay.. I'll bite..

Danny Geurtsen.. freelance craftsman of truth. I construct digital imagery. Painting, modelling, texturing, enveloping, rendering yadah yadah, basically anything pure.. Been at this stuff since oh.. 1987-88 or so. Worked for games-industry pimp Eidos Interactive before going freelance.

Speciality: Extreme high-res visuals and intense detailing.
Dislikes: anything low poly or stamp sized, abbuse of scan-related crutches, the word 'art' and all those variants derived from it.
Experiences: ranging from concepts to games to TV-visuals to poster work etc.
Goals: to find enlightenment in nature and the universe so that my sorry attempts at optical bewilderment will flourish.

Not that I ever post anything but I do read this forum frequantly so I might (at least) as well contribute with some info. Oh well

I work as a Project Manager & Lead Artist at a swedish game developer named Unique Development Studios (UDS). Nowadays I mainly shuffle a lot of papers but when it comes to graphics I mostly do all kind of 2d artwork and some lowpoly 3d modelling.

I am,well, I don't know what I am???

I was the art director, who also ran the entire art department for a national trade show company, (job sucked, so I won't post any links).

Now I am head of production for a graphic design agency, however my title is senior illustrator (although the actual act of illustration comes along very seldomly). We do alot of high end packaging design, clients include, Good Humor-Breyers (I illustrated most of the Popsicle pack ice pops), Marcal, Pepsi-Cola, Mtv, and so on.

Here is their site:

www.smithdesign.com

I am currently looking to get into the entertainment industry (games, movies, etc.)as a conceptual illustrator/designer.

I was going to try Nickelodeon, until Napalm, kind of swayed me . So, if anyone knows of any leads in the NYC/NJ area, send them my way. If not, Cali is a calling!

My temp site is here, (and if you have read my updates), I am still working on my complete site, but life keeps getting in the way:

www.geocities.com/genconfusion

and down in my sig, I like overkill , and I don't mean the cheesy 80's metal group.

I work at a company called Cyberisland Studios located in the small port-town of Anacortes, Washington USA. We do a lot of web design and have made educational cdrom games in the past. I'm still in high school so this may not be "professionl" but it's a good place to get an internship and learn about the industry, or the tiny portion we are involved in.
