I don't quite get the second picture, or at least, those little images on the sides.

Anyways, the light coming down should be alot more of a gradient, not those squiggly lines that you have. Also, since it's such a bright lightsource and coming from a single point, you're going to have alot more darker shadows on that guy. Add some more contrast to him.

Both these pictures suffer from the same problem... they are too flat, and lack subtlty. You need to practice depth in your images. I would suggest doing some studies of things such as light and shadow to learn about relief, and some geometric / perspective studies too.

May be they aren't as fun as making picture but your art will improve 100%.

Ampa whats subtlty? I keepted getting to add darker shades to the head, but when i did i would add the light and the shades would lighten up.

the beach sceene looks pretty bad but its my first time.
