It's nothing fancy. I had been wanting to do a picture of Spiderman for a while now. I finally got it out of my system. Anyway, I am curious to see what you all think.

he's either got an itch or he's putting his glove on.

Wow!

Well if that's "nothing fancy" I'd like to see a more detailed version.
Actually, come to think of it, I'd like to see a Peter Parker version in that style.

Love it, post more!

Really great agent! I think it captures him nicely. I just have 2 little things though. His brow is a little too big and pointy... like cromagnum big and pointy. I think this would look fabulous with him on the ledge of a building and a city backdrop with some stronger lighting on him. Just an idea.

It might just be his ankle. But I see something sticking out the inside of his left foot (right for the viewer) Really like the drawing and the coloring job.

Thank you all for your replies.

DRX: I'd love to do a more detailed version. Maybe when I get some extra time.

Wyatt Turner:I played with the lighting a little, maybe I should work it a little more.

Chapel: I tried to really stylize him, so that's why he looks like that. Again if I had tim I would throuw him in an environment.

mattready: I go through phases were I post a lot and then I don't for a while. I guess you just missed me.

toast!: Thanks. I like expirimenting with a lot f styles. I'm trying to find one to settle down to. Can't really decide.

NDR113: It's the ankle

OkkE, Berger: thanks

Francis: Thank you much for that observation. It is something I need to work on. I will implement that into future drawings. Is "creative illustration" a readily availible book? I'm gonna see if I can find me a copy.

I like the style. My critique would be to show better form lighting. Everything seems to be lit as if it were rendered as separate elements lit equally, then it was pieced together. What I mean is the leg is lit on one side, the turn around of light happens, then the shadow side is revealed. The same lighting happens all over the form. I think it would be more realistic if you showed a definite light source. As opposed to the equally dispersed light you have going on.

I did a very quick example of what I mean. My lighting may be a bit to dramatic, but I exaggerated it to illustrate what I'm saying. However, my lighting may be acceptable if that is a mood your cool with... your decision

Very nice. It really makes a difference. Thanks for showing me. I like the reflective light you got there.

Agent44,

Cool, If I was going to comment in a semi-critical way I would say, What would his face look like without the mask. Assuming this is a cartoon / comic book character is doesnt realy matter, however, He would have no nose and a strange mouth. Just a thought

I really dig the head shape! (Sorry Chapel...) Not realistic, but adds a lot of character.

A lot of your stuff seems to be isolated figures on white backgrounds. I think I may have mentioned that before, but even if you put in some sort of colored background (doesn't have to be a gradient) that relates to the coloring in the costume, I think that would add a lot to these character pieces. Seeing them against the 255/255/255 white background takes away a lot of potential subtleties. It's the same principle as Feng's marker renderings on toned paper, where he can go lighter or darker than the background when he needs to, which adds a lot of punch and sparkle.

Andrew Loomis has a section in his "Creative Illustration" book which talks about 4 different compositions based on background and foreground colors. Maybe this will spark some ideas. Sorry for the big file size.

Really love the pic agent44. I agree with Francis in that I love distinct styles (although I really can't speak for myself in that regard yet). I also enjoy the coloring take by General Confusion. Great stuff.

Not too bad, I would make the lightsource more definate, and if you ever want to print this don't use the harsh red blue and greens, they don't print well, its best to work in cmyk color if u plan to print.
