Lukias, thanks for the comment, but I don't like motion blurred or bad-exposured images. I didn't meant it to look that way. Look at the real WW2 color picture I posted. That's the way I want it - not exactly but that style.
I have NEVER seen a German WW2 color picture that matches either of the touch-ups. Period.

Now please guys, stop calling each other names and shit like that. I almost regret I posted this picture here. DD has a point there, so have the others. Period.

Sky Raider your original post looks great...

all I was just trying to do was make it look like an authentic photo taken in battle from the time but like what would be the point of making such a great hjighly detail model if you were going to just blur it and over expose it..

but yours is an artwork, very coool

Skyraider - cool image ... not totally photoreal but pretty close. IMHO photoreality can't really be achieved for many reasons - but I don't want to waste time to list them all ...
Anyway ... keep it up!

DD: well, it looks like you'll have to get out more, since you obviously don't know how to behave.
Also ... with all your expertise in 3D, tell me the trick that makes your images look like a Softimage rendering from 1992 ...

DD - cool

Thanks Freddio - all cool.

Loki - thanks, but don't let the discussion start again. All is said now, leave DD alone.

All cool now

Balistic we're neighbors! Heh, *sings it's a small world after all*

I'm very familiar with that volumetric lighting Truespace pic, and all this time you've been in Provo. Very good BTW. Where do you work? Just curious, answering is up to you. =)

the way I see it is that we are all visual people. as such our communication skills are lacking verbnaly more often than not. it is always easier to show someone what you mean than to explain it to them. this is especialy important in a situation like this where there is only written communication available. the ammount of information that is possible through this medium is very limmited. what one actualy says comprises a small amount of the overall message when compared to how they say it, tone, sarcasm etc.
even if I were able to talk to everyone face to face I would choose to use visual comunication to explain a concept (most of the time anyway). when we are limmited like this, it is insane to not redo pics to get a mesage across.
If you don't like it, then says so in your original post with the pic. your wishes are almost definitly the eception to the rule. most people have no problem doing this, so long as the redoer does not try and pass the work off as their own.

Actually, all of my work is done in Hash A:M.

I work at a small studio in Orem called Eggington Productions.

Hi all!

I've made a 3D model of an aircraft in Max and tried to make it look like an old (but good quality) WW2 photograph.

I hope it looks (almost) photoreal to you. Please comment =)

Thanks,

Ronnie

Hey that's pretty good, and to me it does seems to capture "the old look", splendid job there.

A good step would be to desaturate it. Then compare it to real WW2 photos and see what the brightness/contrast differences are.

*bump*
Personally I'd prefer to have someone illustrate their crits than write a 3 kms long essay. It's simpler, clearer and str8 to the point. It's more fun to watch too
I'd consider it a favor that someone spends time on something based on my work. Heck, I'd prolly faint if some of the artist I look up to here on the forum would make a repaint

Sure most of the time it won't look better than the original artwork but it's to show a point ! You can't expect a masterpiece done in 10 minutes nor can really critisice it and say "that's $Ht !". (there are some DaVincis on this forum that may be the exception that confirm the rule).
