heh.. WOW!

first of all, is it 2D of 3D? i'm guessing 3D, but i could be wrong of course..

Not much to say here, partially because i'm speechless, but there's a very interesting idea in there, with the jemmie thing in the lower forehead. very nice. Only thing, though, it's eyes could use more shadow to make them look more spherical.

STOP dammit, Zbrush is not an art tool, it's a pact with satan, and no one else has figured out where to sign

Its very nice
Can you do it on photoshop is what I want to know.
How are you at shading and regular 2D pincel art.
I know what Z-Brush does sort of. I just dont know if it helps so much that a crapy artist can do something incredable because the software alowes it.
I am not calling you a crapy artist, Just curious to see what you can do outside of a programe that does shading and texturing for you.

ok a small comment...

Get rid of these mapping errors, it would look better.
And next try to add some more realism by using Diffuse maps ( darken the deep-scratches and stuff )
Nearly the whole object has the same material. Look at the teeth..same glossines as the skin and nearly same color...

U should buy the book "3D Creature workshop" of Bill Flemming... http://www.komodostudio.com/

Hope thats helps

ack I hate Z-brush. I used to like it but every pic that comes out of the program reeks of it way too bad. Kinda like a photoshop filter you can identify right away only worse.

It is true though that this image looks great. Have any PS work?

Easy there, tiger. (howdy, by the way )

ZBrush is a tool. It does some things easier (just like Photoshop) - but it still requires time and talent to make a good image.

How many people are posting ZBrush images at sijun.com? ZBrush is still very new, and I would venture to guess that you might be seeing similar looks because the same artist is posting... I would post here, but I don't have time!

I don't think people should be threatened by a new tool. If you're looking to get a job - employers will hire an artist who can produce the fastest and best quality. They don't care how you do it.

That still takes a good artist to produce it.

I respect an image for the image, not for the process.

Pixelator, I think the details in this image are nice, though the overall shapes and proportions are not something I'm jumping up and down about. Garrr is my favorite image!

Just dropped by and needed to say something.

Always amazed by the realism of your faces.
Although each face pic so far has been different they're still all very similar......I know that makes little sense.

The textures you've used each time are very close, perhaps you should go for a completley new style creature next time. Like something without shiny skin, without tusks and big lips.
Don't get me wrong, I'm astounded, I feel astough i could reach out and touch it. Just go for something at the other end of the scale.

Thank you for your comments
Below is an image that shows several test variations on the ZORRR model.

For those who have asked about ZBrush, here is a quick description of the process that I usually use when creating these images
I first model the 3D head in ZBrush (see the gray images at the bottom left and right which show the base 3D model before it has been painted on). I usually start with a Sphere primitive and then I use the 3D modeling tools to edit and sculpt the sphere to the desired shape. When I am done modeling the head and have applied the base colors and materials to the 3D model, I resize the canvas to a larger size (around 1500x2000) and snapshot the 3D object in layer 1. I then use the freehand brushes (such as the simple-brush, bump-brush, fiber-brush) to add colors, features and all the fine details to the image. I usually add the other parts (such as the tusks and eyes) in another layer. During this process I tweak the properties of the materials that are in use and play with the lights configuration. Then I tweak the best render properties (activate shadows when needed) and apply final gamma corrections. When the image is done, I export it in Photoshop format, and then I load it in Photoshop in order to add text and save in JPG format.
This process may take from 5-20 hours depending on the complexity of the image.
I hope that youll find this info about ZBrush helpful

Thanks,
Pixelator

I have never heard of Zbrush before. I Downloaded the demo just to see what it is all about. I dont know why anyone would want to bad mouth this program. This image that Pixelator did is better then anything I could ever do no matter what kind of software I was useing.

As for this picture. I think you should use more textures. The teeth look like they are are made out of flesh. It seems that everything that is made with zBrush has this organic shine to it. I would take it into Photoshop and make it look more tough and leathery

one thing that i noticed is that your earlier versions have much stronger lighting and coloring than the final painted version. out of all the versions, i think the green/orange one is by far the best. i've noticed that a lot of 'finished' 3d work because too soft in the same way. it loses some of its 'soul'.
