OK, still battling the shiny car thing.
As advised by some of the guys, I've been trawling through some car mags for inspiration. This doodle is based on a Proton, but, of course, maximously beefed up.
I know the interface between the light and dark areas on the side seems off, and the flared front guard bothers me too....
..and ideas?
Cheers, A. |

YAY! A really great car!
Maybe just a little highlight on the front right wheel on top/left area of the tire (to show it's sticking out a bit) and something has to be done with the glass =]
Either remove it at all, or remake it into slightly itnted bluish glass thing. |

Make the glass more contrasty and give it some reflection with the dodge and burn tools. Also add shadow to the front wheel, from the wheel arch, straighten up the chassis and go over the ground to make it look less like it is! I like the car though, although in this country I might just need something with more than an inch ground clearance!
Draw more!!

Thanks guys,
more practice required obviously.
Malorum -Whoa! That car's a BEAST! Umm...what is it? It's certainly nothing you can buy in an automotive backwater like Australia. Let me know what make / model it is so I can do some "further reading" , eh?
Cheers, A.

A - looking' good.
If you can, get your hands on a copy of either "how to draw cars like a pro" by tom taylor, or "quick & easy solutions to marker techniques" by Yoshiharu Shimizu. Shimizu's book has some good photoshop techniques in it as well as markers.

Thanks for the encouragement guys!
Quaternius,
not THATS the kind of thing I'm after.
I'll have to track these books down - especially the "How to Draw Cars Like a Pro", as that's the second time it's been recommended to me.
I have no formal art training, so I rely on your help here. I know this kind of rendering is still taught in a rigorous fashion (I saw some final year students' work from the London Colledge of the Arts - AMAZING), but I have (no, HAD) no idea where to look for good text books. Thanks again!
Cheers, A. |

Hey that's a neat drawing, I think you're getting the hang of that shine you're chasing. I like pretty much everything about it, especially the front. The only thing that bugs me are the side windows. *shrugs*
*me wonders why my car drawing didnt get much replies*

Cool stuff, A. If I was to be negative at all I'd point out that the soft highlights on the windows don't really look right, they need to be much sharper and more defined.
Rest looks great though.
