This is a character sketch for a very generic soldier guy that I was working on a few months ago. He's so generic I lost interest halfway through.

looks like a combination of solid snake and every generic commando type. on the upside, your technical skill is really good. i like how he's a proper commando, he has his pinkie out while holdin the gun |

Yawn, how boring...
Just kidding Francis, I like this a lot. My one concern is that he kinda looks like he's about to fall over sideways. Other than that, really well done. Definitely interesting enough to finish...

Nice! Your drawings reminds me alot of Chester's(innerloop) drawings. Yeah, reminds me a lot of Solid snake, but that's cool, though. I only have one crit.
The pose(first one) looks unbalanced in a way. Maybe the upper body could be moved more
to the left. The other pose looks really good.You sur have some nice linework
Maybe he would look more right with some military boots instead? Hmm, maybe just a taste thing.

The one on the left is a bit boring and could use another go at it... but the one on the right is very good! Sure, he's not the most original design, but technically very sound stuff. Good proportions, nice pose, and good rendering of the backpack and such. Cool.

Well i have been kinda a fan of francis for a while now...I really like all his art (well most of it)..and the soldier (or commando) isnt an exception..

Just add in the cigarette, the ear piece, and the bar code tag and he'll be done! =) j/k.
I like this sketch. Feels very solid. I'm envious of your rendering skillz. They look like a mix between marker and photoshop.
The first pose is a bit unbalanced. Draw a vertical line down from his chain and you'll see his legs are off (or mirror the image). The back view looks fine tho.

francis, nice! I like the backpack design and the wristwatch, original.
crit: 1.drawing: right foot, looks a bit out of proportion.
looks like its perfect for a 3D model in a shoot em up game

Thanks for the comments and crits. It sure does look like solid snake, plus about 50-60 other FPS characters. Probably why I gave up on it so soon.
He does look a little unbalanced - I didn't notice that before.
Micke, if he has not already, have Chester join the forum and put up some of his drawings. More Innerloop guys = good.
Moebius, you know that this is supposed to be two different views of the same guy, right?
Evil, I'm not sure what the pinky thing is about. Maybe CapnPyro can explain that to me as well. I just did that for the hell of it.
Vortx - I guess you can tell if his balance is off by the way his "chain" hangs? Haha
kimzool - generic means having no unique characteristics, like products you can buy in a store which have no brand name.

You know how you could spruce him up a bit Francis? Change the whole color scheme. Instead of sneaky espionage guy.. change into cosmic space ranger man. I see purples and yellows.. hehe. |
