Hey, i think that looks pretty good man...I dont see anything major wrong with it, if anything at all !!
Its true that the lack of a backround DOES affect the image though...
just my 2 cents !
have a nice one

That is going to be a really good pic. the only thing is to me is that he looks kinda short. But finish the face and the bg, and it will be very nice.

Good folds in the cloth, and slick coloring. He reminds me of Orko from He-Man.
My only crit is that he looks rather short.

I don't think the colouring is the big
problem here. You might wanna check the shapes on the folds on the cloth. It don't look very convincing. I could suggest a good excersise for this and that is to hang some pieces of clothing on a chair or something and try to either paint or draw it. You'll get a better understanding how cloth natural fold. |

thanks for all the crits/comments guys! noticed alot of people made comments about how he looks sort of short, which were the same crits i got with the sketched version, i sort of just colored it as an afterthought.
some people liked the folds, some didn't. were there any certain areas that stood out as being really incorrect? the more i look at it the more i don't like his upper arms or the center pieces, though i didn't think his lower body was all that bad.
i guess the coloring is ok since i got very few crits on it. a question i had tho is on reflective lighting. how exactly do you capture that? i used a blueish hued shadow to color some of the yellow parts that i felt would be getting tinged, but i couldn't come up with a color that looked right for where the yellow would reflect onto the blue
back to the drawing/coloring board. thanks for all the comments again!

Heh. I see you colored it Yah. The thing is you don't really want to overdo on the folds. I can tell maybe that your going for a baggy effect.... but that doesn't me more folds. Just maybe make more cloth overlap the other. Anyway, do as micke said. Drape some clothe over something and examine the folds. The folds present in your clothing really don't represent or show us the shape of the whole body, thus making him look a bit short. I think the most problematic area in the folds is with the legs abd perhaps that piece of cloth under the right arm. Keep in mind that gravity will counteract it folding. |
