Like anything made up of people, the sijun.com forums evolve and grow. We go through phases and stages. [i.e., Community Story Telling, Studying with Spooge and Fred, Line Art, and lately, we have been seeing signitures that have images within them.
======================================================
I have an imgage I would like to put in my signiture.
but I am frustrated. I can't get it to work. (See my post in Random Musings)
I was just wondering if everyone interested (and with image signitures) could reply and enlighten me on the matter.
Thanks.
Peace, out.

Lots of other UBBs have this feature enabled. It's a simple hack.

Not all people here appreciate the extra download time for your image signatures.

...oh darn, I made this great flash signature with music and all (only a small 1.5 Megabytes), but I can't use it because you can't have html codes in your posts... (sigh)
(yes, this is sarcasm, and I agree with [CSM] -- sorry for being rude.) |

Oh no.... For people who don't have cable or DSL, a page full of fantastic graphics + 32k animated gif sigs take eons to load. I hope this doesn't become a trend. |

ya ... sometimes if you want to look at a pic in a post (know this from another forum) it first takes you 5 minutes to load the sigs and then finally the actual pic you want to see loads... that's pretty annoying, I think text signatures can be also nice... mine sux I know

Should these image signatures come a common habit, I'm gonna have to start cropping the amount of the threads I check when I visit here.
I really can't be bothered to download whatever animated it is you have decided to put to advertise your homepage, when I would find my way in there through a simple HTML link just as easily.
Or should I just say I won't be visiting any of the sites that add to the burden my 33.6 modem has to handle.
Please avoid them. It will save some valuable time for many of the readers.

I agree. On forums where image signatures are allowed it really gets out of hand. I think anything over what g:tech has it to much. Animation is just distracting.
Jesus, imagine what synj's sig would look like |

I agree that images in signatures can be distracting and result in large downloads.
However, small GIF's are cool. Those are only 8KB and under, on a 56k thats roughly an extra 2 seconds.

Yeah, Rob M, that's 2 seconds for each and every person who decides to put some graphic in their signature...it adds up.
I'm on a DSL right now and I still don't wanna see signatures. I came here to look at people's new and progressing artwork...not to wait on everybody's signature graphic to load. I can't stand the boards that have them because on top of the download you also get people who don't understand how to make one small, ego trips, post after post with subjects like "Check out my new signature!"...we've got enough threads here that we don't need the extra hassle of wading through that stuff to get down to business.
Express yourself in your post, not in your sig. Please don't let this forum devolve into some d00d hang out.
I think that's enough ranting for today =)

You can always turn off your graphics.
Although that's a tremendous pain in the ass in Netscape and IE.
Everyone should use Opera. :P

Heh, Funfetus, did you just hear yourself? Turn off your graphics in an art forum, haha. Besides, that still doesn't solve the problem that graphic signatures bring.

ACK! I'm even having trouble viewing THIS thread, with the three image signatures in it, because I can't connect to sprout's server.
PLEASE, NO SIGS! (Although I disagree with [Shizo], Synj can have an image in his signature if he wants to. ) |

Of course I heard (read?) myself.
I don't know about YOU guys, but I have the option of turning off any unnecessary graphics, and selecting which ones I want to see.

Since we're on the topic, I really dont like 'image dump' posts either. For the most part, I skip them, fearful to take 5 minutes or so to download - than again, I don't. I just dont like how pictures load up, say the last picture loads up before the first few. Anyhoo, its odd.
How about posting your images to sepeate threads when you're done? Or if they're relative to another post, post there.. anyway, just a rant.
