Ok, I don't know if the character is really cool but I did it on blue paper I'm trying blue for more modern stuff, as opposed to the tan color for the more fantasy stuff. I did this in about 2 hours and a half and it came out as I expected. I like it! The only problem with the paper is that the blue is a little light to put white paint on it but I like the texture.
If you like this one I'll do more

Hey man I like it... I like it A LOT!!!
The blue definately gives me futuristic feeling! And I love that character!
Only thing I'd like to critique about this is the left foots shoe/ankle. I think it's a bit odd... or something.
But anyways I really think that's an exellent peace of art man!
Keep up the good work!

Thanks man!
Yeah the left foot is really rotated at an extreme angle, but this is possible to do without a big effort and she's in the middle of a movement. So...
Maybe I did a little too much, but I inked just after penciling so I didn't have the time to reflect on what was best
I like it like that anyway. I was pretty surprised by the result

I think the rotation of her foot is okay, but my eyes keep telling my brian that that's a left shoe on a right foot, over on the left of the picture, there...
But other than that, yeah, she's as cool as the paper you drew her on. |

don't worry the rest of the picture distracts you from the left ankle. Awesome job

Thanks guys!
Slightlytwisted: left shoe on right foot? Huh, I don't understand. I have a pair of basketball shoes that look like that. The inside of the shoe is different from the outside (usually more simple). I dunno...
Jenn: maybe I'll post more stuff if people are interested in seing them. I doubt that, but...u never know. |

Black fish I see a lot of concept art everyday and I do a lot of concept art..I dont think using colored paper does anything for a good concept drawing in fact in my opnion I think that color washes out the detail and takes away from the drawing. I personaly would like to see what that same drawing looks like on white paper compared to blue...I think it would be better against white..just my personal preference
alright I touched it up so it would be against white and I like your work better like this ( MYSELF ) but as you know you have to do whatever makes you happy with your own work

Milkman: yeah I guess it's a question of taste. I've been doing concept for a long time on white paper, stuff like that:
I started doing them on colored paper about 2 months ago, after Vortx showed me some of his stuff. What the colored paper does is providing you with a middletone on which you can easily build your shadows and highlights to create volume. I always had problem creating volumes on white paper and I have a better grasp of it on colored paper. I also think that colored paper looks cool, and looking cool is half of what is art (at least commercial art). But as I was saying it's probably only a matter of taste.
Could be interesting to know what other people think about that though.

black_fish, I sorta see what he means about the shoes looking like they are on the wrong feet... it's not TOO noticable but it's the only thing that bothers me in this pic. Otherwise it's pretty dang cool! =)
To understand what I mean with the foot thing, take a look at your own shoes and how they sorta turn inward to fit your feet. Hers are looking as though they turn outward. You know?

comment to the milkman:
Ive done my designs on white paper up till now and why not do it on different colourpaper, one thing Ive experienced is that, NEVER stop experimenting, allways evole, Ive had people saying to me "why do you make logos and graphics on your modelsheets? Im experimenting, thats all if they dont like it, well thats their taste, I dont say my taste are the only one, neither should anybody else.
