I think u did a fantastic job man. While the composition is similar to the original, kudos for being inspired by it, and not doing a direct copy.

I really like the pose of the guy. Seems to convey a sense of weariness and desolation, but still u know he's one bad mother. I don't know why, but i really like the way he's holding the gun. Seems to work very well.

A criticism that I do have, is that the colours on the man, seem to be a bit saturated. Maybe town them down a bit. They could also use some more detail. But overall this is a great image...esp for a first go with a wacom.

Well, Muzman directed me to 3dpalette's contest site, and I was blown away by some of the work there. So, looking for ideas for a first shot project on the new wacom, i picked this image:

and tried to make my own version:

Damned if I say it was easy. This tablet is going to take some getting used to...

Original design kudos goes to turbine angel, I claim no hold over it - just this version of the picture

These are awesome! I really dig the open space with the smoke in the background. I don't really see anything wrong with these, beautifull work!

Hey there,
nice image.....but I thought about it for a while and figured that its a worthy composition lacking only a little more work. I get the impression that the warrior is bowed under the unforgiving blaze of a desert sun, yet there isn't any hard light on the character.
Also, the lighting on the city seems a little inconsistent, so I tried to demonstrate how you might clean it up a bit.
So, I took the liberty (sorry, but I hope it helps to understand what I mean) of painting over your work....and repost it here.

Cheers, A.
Hope that helps, as a junior member here I feel a little awkward telling others how to go about painting...so feel free to ignore me!

I also really liked "Leaving Las Vegas" from that contest entries. WHat i liked was the concept of lonely beaten half-cyborg that has nothing else to do in Las Vegas other than running from it hehe.
Though if i was the author, i'd add motion to the character as if he was running really fast at the 'camera' and make him look more human like your character.

The burning light and sand desert are great

looks cool. Very Shadey, as it were. I think A's tips were good too (depending on what look your were after) and that is a rather large index finger. I like the dodge-o-rama mist too (not that it was made using dodge or anything....)

Really good rendition of a great image, my only I guess gripe with it is that I believe the sky could be a bit darker since it doesnt look so post apoc to me but the pose on the char is extremley well done..

I think the thumb on his right hand (our left) is too large.

And deserts hardly have clouds, (or they woulden't be deserts), so I'd lose those too, if I were you.

Awesome picture anyhow !

Tough post, really well done.

I love the steam you did about the guy's feet. My favorite part.
No crit - I like the harsh lighting. Keep it up.

Thanks Turbine, that image really stuck in my head fast - loved the perspective and the idea. Thanks.
