I posted a thumbnail drawing a cuople of weeks ago and I finally finished the final version. I did it with charcole and it's about 17 x 28 inches. Needless to say it wouldn't fit in my scanner, so I just scanned the more interesting parts. I'd like to know what you think.

(edit) I just took a picture of it and it
didn't come out too good. I tried to adjust
it with PS. Anyway, Here's the whole
picture:

Thats a beautiful pic. I rarely see a charcoal pic produced this well, in fact I can only recall seeing life drawings worked up to this degree. I think its really prof.

How'd you do the sky and some of the ground area's, it looks to smoothly blended to be charcoal.....?.

I still don't know how some of you guys manage the light placement on every little object, its gotta be the most frustrating aspect for me.

Very nice piece!

Wow, that is some awesome work man! Charcoal is something I've only just gotten into using so stuff comes out kinda messy but it looks like you've got great control over this medium. Nice style as well. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks everyone for your comments and compliments.

CapnPyro-It's for a life drawing class, the assignment was to draw ourselves as an animal. I'm 23.

Lukias-Thanks for your compliments. I ground down a charcole stick and applied the powder with a piece of an old t-shirt.

Joachim-I want to scan the whole thing, but the only scanner of that size that I have access to right now is at kinkos, and it costs 30 bucks. Maybe I'll take a digital photo of it.

Jenn- I have thought about doing kids books. But I really don't know where to start.

edible snowman- What little marshmallowy guy?

Light- I used Reeves BFK. It's a nice paper that works really well with charcole.

lovely drawing agent. you seem to have quite a range of styles you can effectively pull off. i could see your stuff working very well for a kids book. just curios what those silo structures are? i'm torn between begging you to post more picture this one as opposed to your fantastic character concepts.

proximo- I tried doing that on another piece and it didn't quite work out like I wanted it to. For this one the digital camer worked pretty good and it was a lot less work.

phreaknasty- THose silo structures are some kind of cylindrcal building things. I wish i had time to come up with some better buildings.

aNoah- I'm working on it.

opticillusion- I am the goat. I go to mesa communuty college. The life drawing teacher there is a magnificent artist. I've learned a lot from him.
