I did this in -97, I think most of us that are drawing has been asked to draw someones kids...

There are many things I'm not too happy with, some hair is growing where it's not supposed to grow, but in general I think it's an OK picture. Sorry for the bad image quality, I just got a digital photo of it today.
Hope someone has any comments.

Hi Kim,

Yes, they are done from photos. The left one from a good photo, the right one from a very small picture. I had to compensate a lot on him, due to the lack of information from the picture.

Hi Micke,

I did them when I worked as a teacher, while having classes... (hey, I was just 21...) I think I spent about a day on each, can't remember the exact hourly usage. I'll never get to your level of productivity anyway, I guess.....

Nice pencil work. If you look at those two long enough they start looking back and they seem kind of evil.
Like little vampires.

Hey Kjetil Nice pencils. I used to make pretty good doing children's portraits. I love your detail and I don't think they are wicked at all, although the one on the left reminds me of a David Copperfield character.
Here is a drawing of mine from about two years ago of my little girl. The work was too large to scan, so I had to copy them with a webcam. I included a detail to show some of the pencil-work.

Anyone else have drawings of their children?

Micke: I'm sitting right now trying to get the damn plugin work! Are you sure it worked in R3? I can't wait to see the model, too. :)
By the way, I was sort of asked if I wanted to be a teacher at Nes Videregaende as a New Media teacher next year... It's funny to be asked things like that. :)

Rag: Your backgrounds are a lot scarier than mine, I should have done like you... :) Your work looks great! What media did you use?

Awetopsy: The left one might have fangs, but the right one got the evil eyes...

oooh, I almost forgot to say something on your thread Kjetil. Those kids faces are excellent ! Very nice work indeed. I will put a link to your site on my page.

Btw, yes, I too always get those, "can't you do a portrait for me". Seems like many thinks that is fun and done in 5 seconds, hehe

Thanx Joachim... it's hard to see all the work behind a picture isn't it? Have you seen my site? If not, I'll mail you a link, if you want? It's not up yet, because it still has some bugs and the text is totally lame. I ain't the best writer around...
You are already linked on my site

Impressive!, those are worked up beautifully.
(I swear their looking at me....I can here them whispering evil taunts.....)

I once did a pencil portrait for my fathers 50th, took me a good six hours.......I didn't realise how painstaking it can become.

Joachim's right about people asuming things like this are done quickly. "hey heres this photo, can your draw it...like this big and real nice, ok?". Why certainly, whats 20 hours of absoulute concentration and a sore wrist?.

Solid work, kjetil. I do have to agree with everybody else that the kid on the left seems to be afflicted by lupus. Hehe, man, must be the little "toddler fangs" and the patches of white fur... I mean hair

The kid on the right has great caputred cheek structure and that tilted smile.
