Did you pay Disney royalties to use their Little Mermaid fish? |

That is not the little mirmaid fish .. i will admit i did goto disneys site to see the form of there fishes but i did not just import into photshop and draw over it .. i was trying to get a disney type feel to the fish and i dont think you can copyright a style ,, but im not sure on that .. as for the fish i did draw him ,, you think it would cause trouble ?
this is the fish file from photoshop, i imported to flash and redrew it out .. again at a second glance at the disney fish, they are very similar but not a blatent rip off of it, well i dont think so anyhow this is the pic

Hey I really like that site. it doesn't take too long to load, it looks good. And it's a user-friendly design.

Really nice. nice site and quiz. I really like it. you might want to change the color of the fish. It does resemble the fish from the little mermaid a little. |

like everyone said change the fish, if you made money off this job, you run the risk of getting some backlash, because of it's look. It's too close to Disney's.
I briefly looked at the quiz section, and there seem to be no actions given to the wrong answers. Not sure if that was your intention, but to me it looks like it's incomplete.

General Confusion: ill try and change the fish make it look less disney i guess.. as for qrong answers it says try again .. near the fish .. but i might need to make it bigger .. as for getting paid for this .. not directaly . my division got the money and they pay me .. so i did. But one question i do have is can you copyright a look ? just curious about that ? I mean is anime a copyrighted look? or disney for that matter ? anyhow thanks .. |

I don't believe you can copyright a look. I know you can't copyright an idea, you have to have some sort of physical recording to be able to gain a legal copyright. But as far as copyrighting a look, without doing that (if it can be done) Disney has had their look established already, so why even bother with trying to find ways around it.

I understand what your talking about .. the only reason why i did it like a disney look is because the client wanted a disney looking fish to it .. thats really the only reason .. but if you all think it will cause trouble down the line ill go rework it .. thanks for all your feedback .. ohh yah also on your las comment how nothing happens when you click on the wrong answer .. i looked at that and your right ... I need to upload the new one with that thanks again for all yourm positive feed back ... any more thoughts comments would be appreciated |

Hehe..... that fish looks too much like a disney. The color scheme is almost the same. The disney one is yellow and blue.... yours is orange and blue. Frankly, just draw a fish and perhaps not use those stripes. Just use your imagination. Perhaps make the fish stand upright like a human. etc. But anyway, format looks cool. |
