nice pic, tho the contrast doesn't work - on the one hand it's too less, on the other it's too much white, but that's just my personal taste...

It looks more like an underpainting than a finished work, maybe it is not finished yet?

Did you start to paint on a white canvas? it seems as though you have been a bit too scared to cover up the white areas as your image was improving. Maybe you started of by painting with the transparancy on, over the white areas. I think it would be a good idea to, as quickly as possible, get rid of the totally white areas of the canvas before the actual rendering.

Pierre, i started on a light gray canvas, you were right about the white ; that was a great idea to get rid of it

i fixed a little the image, here is the new version :

It definitely got better with the white toned down, made those areas melt in with the rest of the pic more seamlessly.

Still though I feel that the previously white areas are a bit too bright.

The colors seem a bit dirty, not to say that the colors are wrong in any way, however it seems as if they are blended in a very anarchistic manner. Maybe it would be a good idea to look at a certain area, define what color you see there, and apply it very flat, with not too much transparency on. Once you have it there, you can paint with more transparent colors.

Let the different parts of the face take on different colors depending on which light hit a certain area on the face.

I believe that this way the colors will not look so dirty and the face will take on a much richer definition of form.

Maybe try to play around with tha warm and cool aspect of the colors along with the the hue (color).

It looks alot better than before though.

well Pierre i m ver thankful for your advices , i think this one is really better ; i tryed to do what you said ; i have not totally got rid of the dirty colors (i ve been fighting against this but they still remain ..)

Great job toast!

There are some very clear advancments with the latest version, good job indeed. I really like that way you made the hair less contrasty and detailed, look more like hair that way.

The colors look better and the head has taken on a more defined form.

It is obvious that you are not afraid to rework your images by advice, and this is very good, I think you can learn alot by experimenting.

What my eyes seem to search for now is some areas with more highlights, like the eyes for example.

Some working on the shading and maybe a bit of a richer color scheme, not too much though.

Some parts, like the nose, needs to get a more defined form.

I don't think the image needs any radical changes, just some careful touch ups here and there.

I know you will do a good job!

I really liked the small contrasts you had in your hair. It was a nice touch. Too bad you removed that (Sorry Pierre, different tastes I guess ) Otherwise it looks good so far. The mouth looks a bit small... but it also looks like you are really consentrated. I once talked to a girl which was modelling in our class, she said artists looked very beautiful with their intense looks... Also I remember a guy that modelled in another class I went to who got a serious boner.. I understand him, there were a few really nice girls in that class.... hmmmm..

Great job on it, it looks great. Maybe it's just me, but if you added about a pound gel to that hair doesn't it look like you'd have Ross from Friends? I can almost feel his RAAAAGE problem just looking at the picture.
