I had a lovely night last night. I went wild boar hunting. My weapon of choice is a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

the real victim (cause people are easily offended by dead animals I removed the image tags)

...

I've had two of my lovely cats run over.

This isn't the least bit amusing.

Now I'm pretty twisted. I get told that a lot. But even I keep the gore fictional.

While that's not particularly gruesome, it is the epitome of poor taste.

Hmmm, to clear up what I was thinking when I wrote my post...I found the comment on the situation to be funny but the actual situation itself is a bit sad from any angle, thus my first and second comments. I guess some people have different outlooks on any situation...I tend to have many.

Personally, I get a weirdly sick and regretful feeling whenever I drive by a stricken animal but what are you gunna do? I actually witnessed a fairly strange event when driving side by side with an eighteen wheeler on the highway. Up ahead a deer decided to come off the median and stroll onto the highway so I hit my brakes and began to head for the shoulder in order to miss it. The deer realized too late that it wasn't going to make it so it took a quick step and tried to leap its way across the right lane but the truck struck it in mid air sending it flying directly over my car and back onto the left shoulder. Well, it was odd because at that moment I thought two things: that this was, how should I put this, the coolest, no, too insensitive, the wildest...hrmmm no, ahh, the most amazing thing I've seen while driving on the highway and the other thought was that it was incredibly sick and sad to see that poor thing get hit and sent flying like that.

Don't get me wrong, I love animals...my dog in particular has been my best friend at certain times in my life and I'd beat the living daylights outta someone who'd harm another animal for no reason (like the guy you mentioned in your thread, Enayla. He's lucky there're a couple oceans and mountain ranges between him and I). But sometimes there are some situations where I've come to look at it in an objective way, or in simpler terms, to laugh at life a little.

Should Chapel have posted this...well, I got a laugh out of it but that's because of the way he presented it and I have nothing to do with it. He chose to look on the bright side of things instead of worrying about something he probably had no control over. Only thing I would've done different is possibly leave out the final image and just tell us what it was...I was laughing before I scrolled down so the point was made without the need for it. Or maybe the picture is there as a sobering conclusion? *shrugs*

Just my own thoughts on the subject, hopefully someone understands what I was rambling about. It seems I'm usually misunderstood whenever I try to relay what I'm saying over the 'net.

I don't see animals as part of my dinner. I'm a vegetarian. Not that /that/ matters in the context.

It was not long ago that one of my cats was run over by a car (Kasper being the second one we lost that way). It's not that I find this tasteless, as much as I find it a horrid reminder. Well, okay, I find it pretty tasteless, too :P

I miss my Kasper. I hate to see people laugh and find it amusing, no matter the context, that an animal would be killed like this. Sorry, but it really makes me feel sick.

Well. I'm off to bed now.

haha good aim you have there.

If a lion had a chance to eat a human for dinner it would. So I might as well eat a lion.

Cats Kill poor little birds. Animals are dumb also they have a much stronger tolerance to pain. How is killing a cow to eat cruel. It feels no pain when its getting slaughtered. The cows has no family or friends. The cow has no possesions or social life. SO how is it cruel?.

If a farmer slowly hack a cows head off with a chainsaw yes that would be cruel.

OK OK OK. I don't think it was funny that the dumb animal died. I thought the amount of damage was funny. The smile on my face is cause my friend was like.. hey pose next to the car. So.. I smiled. I could have shown more graphic pics.. but I chose this one cause it doesn't show much but the size. This boar probably weighs over 200pds and being hit going 60mph I'm pretty lucky. Anyone who has hunted boar knows how hard it is to kill these things. Just so you can get an idea of its size.. the space between the stripe and the grass is about 3ft.

I figured it would offend someone, but I also figured someone would get a kick out of it. Because I'm really happy to spend about 2k for those pork chops.

By the way... I thought the topic title would kind of give it away... why did you click on it if you didn't want something graphic?

Hey! thanks for the post and the pictures. I thought it was interesting. thats one big ass boar!

my look on it: It happened. too bad...im not insensitive, and if i could have stopped it, i would. but i couldnt and it happened...and now im gonna look at it and say "whoa! big ass boar!" because i think you should try to look at everything you can and see all that you can...including a dead boar. because its all just eyecandy, good or bad, thats all it is now...cause its dead. but still, thats a big boar! heh

did you eat the boar, or keep it as a trophy?

i would have choped off its head, impale it on a stick, and keep it the corner of my room. that way when ever i get bored i could talk to it, and if i got hungry i could tear off a chunk.

Heh, I don't know if I can think of any females I know of that aren't veggie. I still poke fun at my lil' sister for it, too.

What's generally the reason for going veggie though? My sister says it's just because she doesn't like the taste of meat but then there're always the people that do it because they don't believe in eating animals and then others who just think it's healthier overall. Hmmm, this should probably be a whole 'nother discussion...

Justin, killing mentally disabled people is cannibalism and species don't usually commit cannibalism. And every living being tries to kill and eat what is smaller than it. The big fish eats the small fish. And if we do not kill every animal is because we don't want to, we want to be good people and that's out of the nature. We live in a unnatural way, because that's humanity.

i would have to disagree with you, i believe animals are conscious. but i dont think people should stop eating them, they would eat us if they could.

animals often have very complex social structures: for example chimps or prairie dogs. both groups have advanced comunication systems. prairie dogs have their own launguage which includes words for human, hawk, wolf, and owls. chimps also have a form of communication were they can address an indavidual in their group by "name."

many animals murder for reasons besides survival, chimps will often murder each other out of a formed anoyance sometimes even eating their remains.

in nature it is not uncommon to see animals gang rape, commit infanticide, join in sodomy (oral sex), masturbation, canabalism, destruction of property, and homosexuality ect ect

faust: that's true. but eating plants or not is a choice based on life or death, not on convenience. more justified, in my view. plus, it's doubtful plants suffer in the same way and to the same extent that animals do.

ragnarok: that argument was speaking to intelligence -- if intelligence was the only important factor, then it would be okay to kill mentally disabled people. obviously, it's not.

re natural/unnatural: we can rise above animal nature but not above nature, of which we are a part. nature gave us reason and I tend to think nature intends us to use it. if not, we might as well go rape and kill whoever we want, because hey, it's natural.

FaithInChaos: I was somewhat simplifying animals versus humans. It's probably more of a gradient -- i.e. some animals exhibit intelligence and even consciousness similar to our own.

But just because some animals act somewhat cruelly (to the extent that they do it consciously) doesn't mean WE can therefore act cruelly. Some humans do bad things, that doesn't mean you and I should too.

And re them eating us if we dont eat them: I don't think cows could digest us, much less chew us enough to swallow, if given the opportunity. Same for most animals we consume.

Didn't mean to draw this dreary topic out...
