Her face is almost a straight line going straight down! It shouldn't be like that.... should slant in at the forehead and the chin i belive. Not too sure. Just look at yourself from the side in the mirror to get the right curvature. And... I think the hair line is a bit too high. But otherwise, looks like an encouraging start. I like the nose eyes and mouth so far. And the ear.. the middle of it should be darker because after all, it is a canal |

man what a downer
i know its not done yet, i dunno
i just thought i'd contribute something
yes the forehead will be reworked, but not every person skull/head is the same size
im not defending the way it is currently, but the way it will be is a round-like small forehead...with sleek hair going in one direction -model girls on paris runways have funky hair, im trying to get that feel
anyways, i hope you liked the concept behind it...
yes the canal will be alot deeper and darker than it is now, and correct proportions will be worked out
thanx for taking a look, at least you did

I worked out a few of the proportions issues for you. I didn't make it perfect, cause I had trouble with the eye on the far side of her head (something I haven't drawn much of really
Paste this picture into the jpg file in Photoshop and flip the layer on and off to see the differences in proportion.
I did most of these changes using the Transform options in the Layer menu [Layer] - [Transform] - [Skew, Scale and Resize]
I copied bits from her face, pasted them into new layers and resized and rotated.
I still see a lot wrong with my rework, but I hope it helps you out a bit.

Oh yes, I forgot to say what I liked about your pic!
You did a great job in technically recreating some of the areas of the face - her left eye in particular and the top if the nose down to the chin are beautiful regions (the mouth was just at the wrong angle I think Photoshop makes drawing lips and eyes very, very fun. The best part even...
Drawing the face in proportion, without guidelines, is THE hardest part of face drawing... even drawing good guidelines is harder than drawing a good eye.
Damn, the only thing that brings better proportion to pics you draw yourself is practice... I wish there was an easier way (I need it too!) |

Hey Anthony I Think the picture's coming along good but you should work on that forehead like mentioned before, yes everyone's head is different but she looks like she has a warped skull When drawing the hair on her think about her whole head think about the shape that is under the hair. That will probably help the rest of the picture a lot. I like the lips those look really good. |

hey Sergenth thanx for the suggestions
but i think you hacked the pic up a little...
i get what you mean by the angle though, although your depiction of the woman resembles more of a rat.
the slanted nose gives that impression...
anyways, im home from work, ill keep chuggin on this pic and post it when i get farther
thx for the crits n stuff guys

I love the pic Anthony, when I first saw it I thought about those models, maybe a coincidence{sp?}. I would put more of a indentation from the forehead to the nose, inbetween the eyes, but that's just my opinion.
Sergenth - the pic you did makes it look like the lower part of her face is turned, and slighty facing up, and the upper part is not. But again, just an opinion. BTW The hairline looks better.
Anyways I liked the pic, and can't wait to see the final. |

Your intentions are very good & I can see the effort & time you put in,
but Im still really wondering about Sergenth reworking the image that was so graciously posted in the forum.

are you sure?
Because that code works for me
Make sure the URL is exactly what your
browser address bar says. Go to the link, and verify. Cut that URL out if it helps, and paste it in between the code...
Oh and by the way Kevin, i'm working on a method off of www.goodbrush.com (craig mullins) method...its really cool!
I haven't posted anything using the technique yet...but i might use this 'sleek hair woman' as my experimental image
The Method
What it is: Original *sketch image* drawn at 1000x1000 pixels or whatever, smaller even...
once the sketch is basically done, lighting, proportion is layed down: then you blow the image up 3000x3000 pixels! or even larger
the larger, the looser you can draw!
Let's say the image is a face...for example the face i'm working on. For the eye portion of the face, you can box it ...then blow it up to 3000x3000 pixels as a seperate image:
paint it in fully, then size it down to the original size so that you can paste it back onto the image.
You then do the following for all the other areas. Mullins says its best for eyes, lips, etc. All the areas that need detailing!
I find new view in photoshop zoomed out, while painting gives you an idea of how it looks, while painting it.
I'm looking into getting a dual head g450 video card. It enables you to use two monitors at once in photoshop and other applications. I could then put the toolbars onto one screen. Work in ZOOMED IN mode on one screen while viewing the ZOOMED OUT mode
on the other.
Pretty crazy stuff eh!
well get back to me...

Some people do have facial angles of 180 degrees. I wouldn't worry about. Especially since it isn't a complete profile. Nice pic. |

Hey Anthony,
I really like the repost! You've created more expression through the shape and the highlights and shadows around the mouth and eyes are really nice.
It still doesn't look like anybody but it has some very nice features indeed.
The new ear looks very odd, but is well rendered.
You also drew her right eye in correct perspective with the rest of the face, something I couldn't figure out when I played with it. :P |

Thanx Sergenth, ya i barely painted the ear, i was just trying to fix the face! lol
cause after your post, i looked at my original and went WTF? its really bad
so i reworked it..
Now i'm trying to take the image to the next step. Blowing it up to a 3000x3000 size, and drawing over it with a layer.Once the layer is fully drawn that will be my new master copy, ill get rid of this original, then
blow up the eyes, lips, nose, etc to a larger size: rework them etc etc
trying to use Craig Mullins method...
i e-mailed him to verify if i had the whole brilliant procedure correct, i'm still waiting on a reply. He's a busy guy prolly!
