Since I started taking figure drawing this semester, I can't get over how much I have improved. I was just looking over some drawings I did earlier on and comparing them to the ones I did today and I was really blown away by the improvements I had made.

These first ones are what I did in the beginning, probably 5-10 minutes a piece:

Then these two pages are what I did today. Each one ranging anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes:

I know that they aren't all that special compared to a lot of the work that goes up here, but I'm just using myself as an example to show everyone how practice REALLY pays off. I mean, yeesh, look at those ugly, funky first ones I did!

Now micke and joachim are prolly wondering why the heck I'm thanking them since they don't even know me ^_^ Basically I have just been completely inspired by their work. Both of these guys just blow my mind every time they post anything.

Since I've joined this forum I have really started to work harder. So I just wanted to thank you guys in particular for inspiring me and helping me to improve

*gacks at the first drawing one more time*

Good work, Jezebel! I see a definite style developing. It's amazing how much figure drawing can improve one's skills.

You're not the only one inspired by micke and joachim -- after seeing their work I've started going to figure drawing twice a week instead of once

Just wondering, but is this an actual course with a teacher teaching anatomical information, etc.? Or is it simply an open life studio where you can draw however you please? Was only wondering because I am soon going to be getting into those (well, at least when the right season for the school comes around). Overall, great job, and practice even more to make your lines even more prominent. (ie, the line stays there forever, and portrays alot of energy).

Justin - Thanks! Those two guys are great, and so are you. Your self portrait was amazing!

[Shizo] - You're not allowed into my nudie threads any more! *grin*

Solitaire - Even if you don't have time to take a class, just going to a busy place with lots of people and drawing there would be very helpful!

mjmcchesney - It's actually just an overall drawing class that focuses on figure drawing. My teacher never got into discussing anatomy too much, it was more like she just wanted us to "draw, draw, draw!"

That's great to hear!
Figure drawing i think is the best excersise
to improve the drawing skills in all ways, not only anatomy. If i could suggest one thing, it's better to draw more full-figures in order to get proper weight.
Looks good! keep on doing these and you'll
improve more and more!
By the way you just reminded me that i have'nt bee doing any
figuredrawings for 2 month or so. I'll start right away on monday!
It's really nice to hear that you find my work inspiring Thank you for your kind words.

You certainly have improved very much. Good looking studies there.
BTW, [Shizo], it's perfectly normal. You have to draw what you see. If not, then why bother to do nude life drawing at all.
