just finished this today. as usual i'd love to hear your crits and comments.

i tried first time for real to think about Jason Manley's teachings on color saturation and etcetera. i'm quite pleased with the results, so thanks to Jason for sharing them.

Wow, nice picture. I really like the use of color in the left half, though I think the area where his hair turns in to the wires and things could use a bit of snazzying up - it's just not quite as interesting as the left half (color-wise), so the picture seems a little bit unbalanced. Otherwise, really nice!

I really love the style that you, Veb, and Jason paint in. You are all top notch in my book. This is another great piece.

So, what exactly did Jason say about color saturation and et cetera?

Well kick me in the eye, thats another hotshit piece of work!.

You've got the Robocop metal going nicely and your painterly style gets me hard.

I agree about the wires etc, you should maybe have a rethink or a refine....I think a more simplistic background would suffice. The pale tones you've used by his clenched hand seem pretty sweet, apply them some more?.

But hey its one sweet piece, i enjoy your stuff.

Hey, that's a really nice pic! I really like the feeling you have in it. It looks very painterly.
One thing though, is the right arm (our right) supposed to be that bright? All the toher details seem obscured due to the fact that they are in darkness. But the arm is lit?
I don't really get it.

Really great pic though, keep posting!

WOW! Janne this is frickin' good stuff. There are some minor anatomical flaws but they are easy to ignore when looking on the picture as a whole. Great shading. Composition and idea is also very nice. I would really love to see some refinments on the head and his right hand. Both these areas seem a little to simple compared to the rest of the body. Also the wires in the right side of the picture looks a little sketchy... Intentionally?
anyway. Awesome!

Very inspiring pic again, janne.
Crit? hmm.. I agree with others that the circuitry thing on the right could perhaps use some more refinement, it could be more coherent with all those wires in his body. Or maybe just fade it out more. This is eyecandy anyway.

it's very cool how the hair almost blends to the background and the face is cool too.

thanks all!

afex: darn. i have to agree, the hand is quite small thanks for pointing it out.

waylon: yes, that part really needs some tightening up.

faust: sure. http://www.saunalahti.fi/~jannep1/workish/deintegrationbig.jpg
it's pretty loose in that res though.

a.buttle: if i have understood it at all, it's about putting stronger focus on parts of the image by varying the color saturation... hmm. actually you should make a search for his posts. i'm not able to put it as well as he can.

glueman: bisley? you bet. but actually it has been more unconcious recently... pics just end up looking bisley in some parts. it's not intentional.

lukias: i guess i'm going to work some more on that wire area.

jasonN: i left the arm intentionally bright because i thought it would make the composition stronger... but now that you mention it i'm not sure if it works?

BooMSticK: thanks! i think i'm going to refine this a little bit further so thanks for your comments. the wire area is sketchy on purpose but it isn't quite working at the moment

agent44: painter.

awesome feedback as always. now i just have to get the time fix this up...

janne
