I can choose one book from Amazon as a Christmas gift. Do you have any suggestions as what would be the best choice?
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0823003035/002-8031994-2923259

I am interested in a Figure Drawing book.

Drawing the Head and Figure by Jack Hamm. by far the best figure drawing book I have ever used. He breaks the body down to its bone and muscle structure to give an idea of how stretched skin should look...

WHOA!! Slow down here. The best anatomy/figure book is "Anatomy Made Amazingly Simple" or easy.. I just seen it at Barnes and Noble. It seemed to contain a lot of good information that I was only able to find in several different books.

If you want to buy a figure drawing book be sure to look at the pictures and make sure they are high quality so you can have something to draw from. Its better to have a book with a lot of photograph like pictures then a book filled with little notes that mean nothing.

Anyway.. anatomy made amazing simple/easy is pretty good. Theres also some old out of print books on drawing figures that are good. You might also want to look for some skeletons and remember the form is 3d.

Hmmn, right now all i'm using is some basic anatomy books, fine to me, nice n' accurate too! It helps knowing what the muscles look like and how they move.

Hogarth is excellent. There are 4 or 5 books by him. They are spread out by "Hand", "Head","Body"..."Shading"
Good stuff

Thank you for your input .... I'll take a look again at the Amazon site. Unfortunatelly I cannot see the content of books before choosing. They are not available where I live.
