And like Grandpa, not empty-handed.
I am looking at an older school of illustration, Cornwell was just one of many excellent artists in this group. I really believe that I am not wasting my time developing the narrative aspect of my work. Does it brand it as illustration? Yes and no. I still have only seen three Cornwell pieces. Fred bought me a book and I must pilgrimage to get it.
I have a gigantic pile of email to go through now, so bye for now. I see yours at the top, Samdragon.
Man, and a bit of reading here, too. |

very nice! I like the colours and the silhouet and you planted real character in that guy, you can almost feel his tenseness.

Excellent pic spooge!
I really like the light of the door behind the guy, and nice colors too. Got a great mood to it.
Very glad to have you back
//edit> Now, are you using the same technique with this pic, as you did in the suit tutorial you've made? Blocking in the silhouette and so forth?

What did you bring me grandpa?
Thank god you are back spooge. By the way, one or two new people signed up while you were gone.. nothing big.
Nice pic. Looks more like a "red coat" from way back in the patriotic days than a pirate. |

Are we only seeing half of this? Captain Red's center of attention seems to be off the page, and clues like half a mirror make me think there's more.
If not, never mind - great piece. Feels like there's only about three colors here.
Plus, glad to see you back here.

Looking again at this, I would make a couple suggestions: Everything is detailed about the same. How about detailing his face more than, say, the potted plant. Right now I'm focussing on the plant just as much as the guy. The only other idea I can think of is maybe having a dim reflection of what he's looking at in the mirror. Anyway, you're the expert! :]

Nice to see some of your work on the forums again.
Like the picture, the earthy tones are nice. It has a ghostly feel to me as though he's walking into a house that hasn't been lived in for years, the colours help this I think as they make the enviroment look old and dead. |

This is nice. heh I'm a 'big fan' of your work. Anyway.. the composition seems a bit lacking though. Also maybe add some more highlights to his face. It might be good to bring in the darks stronger up close to give it more depth too (like some master I forget). |

HEh. I like the work spooge. Just a few questions though. What's the white stuff behind him? Curtains in the wind? What's he holding and what's on the left side of the painting? But anyway, I really like the expression on the guys face. To me, looks like a red coat is romping around in his house looking concerned because there may be intruders. Or he's about to break news to his family about poor ol' "Johnny" dying. Something like that. Anyway.... Really like the painting and I think it has a great story behind it! |

Great picture this time... usually i prefer ur more dramatic lighting paintings, this one seems a lil over washed out with greens, no doubt intentionally done. nice work |

I think its suppose to look like he's slowly sneaking up on an intruder and he's a little scared. The mirror and perspective add to the uneasiness and he's holding a gun. I guess we are left to wonder if he sees someone in mirror or someone sees him. The drapes pulled in front add to intimacy/secracy of picture.. like the viewer is also hiding.. thats my guesses. but the colors are romantized.. so maybe lovers quarrel or something. |

shit on me...That's great stuff Craig...Great job, as always! I love the kind of foggy/murky new-england peat-bog feel, as if he's entering some abandoned house out in the middle of nowhere...hehe...Awesome job!

And a grand entrance it is!
Yes, Cornwell will certainly make you think about composition. His ability to add motion and emotion to his images is absolutely amazing. He reminds me of Sargent, but in a rougher fashion.
Glad to see you're back spooge!
It's images like this that make me rethink of hunting jobs in the gaming industry. |
