moin there,
first of all, i would like to THANK everyone who reads this thread, cus' i know theres an invasion of lamers err... i mean newbies.. and theres plenty of stuff to crit. so i hope i wont waste your time with this pic! but u know: it really helps a lot to receive tips + ecetera
i felt like posting my second work i did with a digitizer - i commonly work /w usual oldskool paper 'n pens.
credits go, to be mentioned at this point, to Joe Maduriera (?) who did the original, i suppose.
the pic is supposed to show a mighty female warrior who is stepping towards the observers viewport, shes kinda influenced by egypt fashion-design
k, now to the crit/comment part:
im personally not satisfyed /w her right food, its a lil' 2 slim i guess, and the colouring job of the sword is crappy, i didnt achieve the proper metal texture. could anyone help out?
the face has a strange look to it, how do i fix it?
thx a lot
-c

Hi,
yes i think his right foot looks a little bit twisted. And the sword teture is almost identical to the one on her bra. so i thing you should change it.
Good work

Just some thoughts from a lamer, ummm newbie The right foot does look like it tapers out a bit to much or perhaps it becomes a little to rounded. I really like the slight glow on the edge of the hair. For the sword edge, I think it would look better if it had on long highlight/glow on the entire blade edge instead of a lot of smaller ones on both sides like it has now. |

I think you may have forgotten to give credit to someone... maybe Joe Maduriera?
By the way.. the right foot is off. Guess it is kinda hard to draw on your own with out Joe's reference. I think you have alot of nerve doing this on a message board that Liquid! visits.

tzekin: thx for ya crit. you are right, the right foot looks goofy, it's twisted a bit, ill fix it some time.
the sword suxx, it hasnt much metal-feeling to it - any hints for techniques?
ah, and i'll have to col the diamonds on the swords handle, but its not that important..

Whooops... Now /that/ is what I call busted...
And it's quite embarrassing, since Joe Maduriera's original is so much better.

Chapel and the rest are right - you should have mentioned that in the first place instead of talking 'bout lamers - now that's putting a strange light upon you :/...
I think in the future people should be more carefully with other artists works! |

well, thats what i did not intend to do, sorry for offending anyone then. occured to be just to be the best way to learn a colouring technique, to compare the original work to your own's.

All you had to do was give credit. But since you made references to "lamers" and such then post a pic without giving any credit.. well that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. If you knew you were copying you should have just said so, but instead you ask for critiques on something you are trying to pass off as original. Congratulations.. you are a lamer. |

just messin with him.
his picture does show a good level of skill, even though it's completely copied, so it's difficult to tell. Any original work? |

What are you talking about ???
LOOK AT apoplex's FIRST POST!!!! THE one with the picture!!! look at the last line before the image, it clearly says:
Original done by Joe Madureira (?) !!!!!!
Yes, his work is really close to the original, but It seems to me that he did it
himself, I mean, he didn't just take his picture!!! And the credit is there...
Well, I must admit that copying someone else's coloring is not the best way to learn
but I don't see something really BAD here --
he GAVE A CREDIT !!!

Hlid, he gave credit after it was brought to his attention that he should have. You'll notice it says the message was edited earlier. Don't freak out on us now. =P
