Ok... you guys probably seen this before, but I'm really stuck. I need help on fixing up the guy on the rights face and his shield...but everytime I do it it seems to make it look worse. Please help? And...does anyone know how I can get a convincing look to the crowd without having to draw every single one? Anyway.. other comments and crits are welcome. Thank you in advance!

hi eviltoylet,
I think one of your problems is that you are way too bogged up with the details before the main masses. Try to not "see" the details, but the joint of them.
I like the fact that you are not too much concentrated in "shading" and soft brushes, that is good. I would say that you should continue working that way, since it is good training on getting the values and colors right. Remember though, big masses too, and I think it will be a good practice executing this pic.

This is pretty nice. You should continue adding details as you have done using a smaller and smaller brush and zoom in more and more (maybe up to 800% or so). Try to work on the key areas first. You can use a brush of 1 or 2 pixels for the details. You can also try smudging also. For the crowd its pretty simple. Draw them in detail but using a medium brush. Look at the large mass shapes and colors. This will make a "blurred out" crowd look which has the proper proportions but not a lot of detail.. |
