I am coloring Joe Madureira's Ninja Turtles picture that he did for Wizard, I think. Anyways, I love the coloring job that Liquid! did, props, and I wanted to take a shot at it. I was wondering if anybody had any tip, Liquid! especially?
All I have now is the flat colors laid out:

Well it's kind of hard to see where you're going to go with it yet, it's just flat colors. But you might want to stay in the lines. |

Well, you don't have much yet. It's kindof hard to give much advise or crit with so little.
But anyway.
Color within the lines. Makes it look more professional.
And add more color variation between the turtles. You may think that the differant greens are enough, but they aren't. They will blend together. Push the variation much farther.

Man, I hate when someone posts what I was typing while I'm typing it.

Is there an echo in here?
Anyways I was asking if anybody had any cloring tips in general. And coloring past the lines is something I do to make sure I don't miss anything, then I get better control using the polygon lasso to cut away the excess.

Here is my tip:
Use that nifty search option at the top of the page to find previous coloring threads. |

I have worked more on it, but I'm stuck. I can't decied how the background should look. Below are a couple of designs, I like number 4 best.

All I have is flat colors still, I wanted to figure out the background before I started to shade, because I am gonna need to know the color of the lightsource.

Second, I am going to try a new technique. I'm gonna go for comic style, more of a hybrid comic/realistic, but I need to know how people get the selections for the shading of shadow/highlights. Do you guys use the airbrush and do it the hard way, or is there an easirer way?
