Hi you all, i am a real newbie (less than 1 year part time drawing) but i am fool so i started not only to draw but also to animate... i am making a 5 mintes animation for an intro featuring Dirk, the famous hero from Dragon's Lair...
Im would like to ask to all the great friends of this forum some suggestions...

Here's the link... http://web.tiscalinet.it/Dragonslair/story/dirk.mpg
Note: i used only 5 frames to animate it...
Here's also a little pic of an older Daphne...

when he's running he looks like he's jerkin around a little too. If you don't mind me making a suggestion, I would suggest shooting on two's, that will slow him down a little. cool though, keep on it.

Your run cycle is so gimpy I can't even figure out where to begin with it. I would highly reccomend you try a side view of the run, just as an exercise. I think you'll find it much easier to deal with that angle first as you don't have to deal with foreshortening while you're trying to get the basic of a run cycle down.

As for the head turn, a few suggestions:

One, things look more natural if they move in arcs as opposed to linearly. So try dipping the head a bit in the middle frame.

Two, the eyes usually lead movement for the head, so they should move first.

Three, try adding some ease in and ease out for your movement, add 2 more frames where the movment is right after the start and right before the end.

Four, cue the viewer that something's about to happen by giving a bit of anticipation of the action before the action. Generally, a bit of movement in the opposite direction of the main line of movement.

I've got a quick and dirty example of what I'm talking about at http://www.polycount.com/cottages/wrath/images/head_turn.avi

**Yeah, I know the model sux...it was a 5 minute job**
