This is my first posting here. ook turned me on to this list and it looks to be a great place to share and receive tips and tuts. I consider this image as done as I'm going to get it. Still I want to learn more about the image than I'm seeing. Please tear it to shreds so my next one will be better.

Hey man cool werewolf. I really like that pic it has so much detail. I did not like the legs either so I gave it a quick touch up. Hope you don't mind?? Good work post more stuff like that.

great image... i dont have many things to say against the picture being good... only things i can see are his teeth and his eyes that could use some adjusting... his teeth that point out the sides on the top look a lil strange but if thats how u want them its fine by me... the other thing is the extremely small teeth it looks a lil strange. and the shading on the eyes i dunno just think u could do something to make them more dynamic maybe make the contrast between the dark orange and the highlights a lil stronger... those are just my personal opinions... still is a great image |

Awesome pic - but milk man really shows how lighting can have an impact on a piece. Really look foward to seeing more from you.
Again, that's fucking awesome!! |

That's mighty spiffy man...Good work! Haven't seen you post before, so welcome to the forum!
The only thing that bothers me, is the teeth in the maxilla (only because they're not anatomically correct *regarding the inscisors*) but that's just me. The detail is fantastic!

WOWWWW.... very good picture.... I like the detail on the wolf..
so you want crits eh? hmmmmm welll.. maybe the trees could use some extra detail..and I would hide his hind legs entirely behind his body... but otherwise the pic is perfect.

Very nice pic!!! No I don't entirely agree with BigWings, you shouldn't add more detail to the trees in the back, that would distract you from the wolf. I agree about the legs though ...

I agree about the hind legs, they look kinda in the wrong place.
In my opinion the one thing that is missing is a full moon in the sky.
Nice pic though. |

REEEALLY niceee you don't see very much art of that quality around. But i think the 1st tree on his right is bended weirdly. |

the only thing that's bugging me about the picture is the necklace.... it shouldn't be just dangling down it should be slanted in at an angle (because the werewolf is moving forward i asume) and ..yah like everyone said, get rid of those hind legs.... you shouldn't be able to see em so clearly so blur it out a bit. |

Looks better without the hind legs. Can the background be blurred / pushed out of focus to make it look like the wolf is rushing towards us even more?
Just a thought. AMpa. |

I give it a 9.5! Awesome image.
Only thing I would change is the back feet but that is barely noticeable anyhow.
I'd give it a 10 for perfection if the feet were not there.

Thanks to you all for the crit! I aggree with you about the hind legs. In retrospect I realized I had fought with those from the start and should have let them go early on. I didn't put a full moon in the picture for two reasons. First I had just worked on two other pieces that had full moons in them and didn't want to start being the full moon guy. And second I wanted to pull off the look of a moonlit scene without showing the moon but just showing the light from it. I'm pretty pleased with the result. The tree on his right is bent but for some reason I like it that way. As for it having scales... I dunno I admit that I didn't use any reference for bark but that's what I was going for. Thanks again to you all for taking the time to check it out and for giving it a critique.

If anyone is interested I can post an avi showing various stages of developement of this image. Let me know if there is any interest in this sort of thing as a retrospective of the choices and hurdles I went through.

Hey Dave, good to see you here. You've improved tons since that vampire pic you sent me a while back. Nice work!

Here's a link to the avi showing various stages of the image. The initial sketching is ghastly but it get's kind of fun part way through. I really should take more time to develope a drawing before working in color. Oh well, live and learn right?

Cool pic! I like the contrast added to the touch up but think that the shadows look dead. I think there should be a hint of detail in the shadows. Just a little. I think that getting rid of the feet was a good idea. |
