Hm, I've used a Wacom tablet at work with NT. Worked splendidly after I had downloaded a patch from their homepage

Absolutely certain. It was a brand new USB tablet - I was really confused by it at first

It might mess a little bit with you at first (it sure did for me) but after a few gnawed off fingernails I downloaded what was needed from their site, and voila! It worked like magic.

I want to believe you but how is this possible? Can you describe what you did to make it work?

This is what I found at wacom.
Q. Will the Wacom USB tablets work on Windows NT 4.0?

A. A: Windows NT 4.0 does not have the required USB device libraries. The Wacom tablet is a HIDclass (Human Interface Device) device and Windows NT 4.0 does not have these libraries included. The USB tablets will function on Windows 2000.

Thank You

I have a Wacom USB tablet...
And I'm using Windows 2000, and it works for me. So it will probably work after you download the latest drivers from wacoms homepage.

last time I heard, NT didn't support USB, but there's probably a way around it.

just some thoughts:
Do you have the latest service pack? (maybe it has USB support) Check the Windows updates and see if there's a fix that maybe you don't have.

Go to the Wacom site and find their latest drivers, make sure they're NT drivers.

If all else fails, get a USB to PS2 adapter and try that.

I'm pretty sure that WinNT 4.0 does NOT support USB. Wacom may have some special hack that makes it work, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Thanks guys for the reply. I actually have one system running NT4 and that's the server, there rest are running compatible operating systems.

Can someone tell me or point me to somwhere on more information on the diffrence in serial and usb in the wacom. How much speed improvement it is really.

Thank you

No, Windows NT does not support USB. There is a third-party company that created a set of services that load at startup, in which USB priveliges can be granted to users through Administrative priveliges, but the probelm still exists of drivers for USB devices for Windows NT (which do not exist)...hehe

The Wacom I use (an old ArtzII) is a serial version, and I've never had any problems with it.
