Hi everyone. This is my first post on this board and I know I'm not posting digital artwork but thats ok right? Anyway this picture is practice for me, its not an original idea. I drew it from a photo of Samuel L. Jackson. Does it look like him? What do you guys think about drawing from photos? Is it ok to do if you are trying to increase your drawing skills? I don't know much about the copyright laws but I don't like the idea of copying work so I will try not to do stuff like this in the future. I guess drawing from life is probably the way to go. Anyway sorry for getting off topic, here is my picture.

hmmm um... perhaps it's the outer countour of the face that's wrong... Maybe just the hair line....

Good all the same, more than reconizable.

Ghost, very nice picture.

If you can't draw from life, draw from photos, It will improve your drawing skills, and your understanding of the body, Photos are nice because they stay still, hehe, but they sometimes cheat what's really there.

I draw from photos, when I want a likeness, and I'm going for photo realism, or as an excersise, but I mostly try to draw from the head.

In any case as long as you mention the reference or admit it when asked, then I say go right ahead.

My two cents

-Skeez

Oh, and welcome to the forum. hehe. Almost forgot.

Post the reference, cause it'd be easier to help out, though his eyes nose and mouth all seem to be mis-aligned.
Otherwise I'm really impressed, you must've spent ages doing this, well bloody done!.

Ghost
This is Samuel L. Jackson. I don't appreciate you drawing me without my written consent. Please don't do this again, or I will have to take action.

PS. Please see my new movie.
