I don't know of a better solution and haven't had the time to go through all the comments of the others here (sorry ). I think it has to be done... |

I'll volunteer to be a moderator. =P I mod sections of two other messageboards, so I'm familiar with how to deal with crap. =P Let me know if you could use some help, Dhabih.

I'd like it this way:
- digital art (finished AND unfinished art)
- art discussion
- random musings
- tutorials
Start small, you could subdivide it further later, if necessary.
The usefulness of moderators is highly depending on the person, IMO. If the more mature and professional members like Joachim, Micke, Spooge etc. would do the job I'm sure it would help this place. Moderators should moderate things, not rule this place...
And I also think a chatroom would be a good idea to deal with quick questions, that don't need their own thread.
I'd like to see a view-counter, if possible, because this let's you know, if people have seen your work and don't want to comment or if they all missed it so you might keep it alive a little longer.
Shortcuts to the subpages of a thread would be great.
Posting rules sound like a good idea, too. Like recommended file size, some do's and don't's.
Dhabih, whatever changes you make to the forum, I think some have to be done...
Everyone: Please be patient! I'd hate to lose input by a lot of the guys n gals who frequent this forum. Stay tuned. |

I think it's a good idea to split the forums, since there's so many people posting. However, maybe it could help if we all tried to post no more than say one topic per week (i'm not talking about replies), so there's not so many new topics each day neither 'bandwidth wasting' topics. Even if the forum is split it will keep growing, i believe it would be a good idea to write some simple behavement rules (does 'behavement'exist?).
Another thing that would be great to have is a sort of 'essential', 'educative' or 'very interesting' forum. Let me explain, whenever a really useful topic appears (like the 'Paint along with Fred' or the recent 'Reflections' thread) it could be moved to that forum so it would be easily found. Nobody could create new threads on that forum but we could reply to them. That means more work to Dhabih, but this threads could be elected by people emailing him so he should only do that when he thinks enough people think that a certain topic is interesting. Don't know if UBB allows this tho.
Also, if it's not ok to post traditional art in the "Gallery" and "Work in progress" forums, please create a "traditional art" forum, i'll visit it and will post there, promise.
Sorry if some of this has already been said, i'm at work and don't have time to read each post.
Just my 2 cents.

yeah, like most of you, i like the idea of a single forum.. but too much is too much :P
i think dhab's ideas on how to divide it are pretty good.
one thing that irks me is hardware questions, perhaps a separate area for them ? of course there would be better sites for such info, but still..

Hi,
thanks for doing something about the situation. Hope it gets better again.
I think it would be a good idea to ad a tutorial forum too.
And at the same time to asked the big guys why they are not here anymore and which change they would like to see. If Spooge, Frost, Feng, Loki and Co are going of the wagon than this is not much of a place anymore to come to.
all the best
cheers

I'm all for splitting the forums. I seem to miss alot of good posts because of all the stupid topics that are outweighing the actual posts with artwork in them.
