About the pic... What can I say, it's called culture, just the way things are around here. Was the only pic I had available at the time. Bout the only thing you can reasonably infer from the pic is that I'm an American that played basketball in highschool, and thats basically the extent of it. Personally I think that's about as far as I fit with the whole *American jock* stereotype, but you're certainly welcome to your own opinion on that matter.

I've saw I documentary about how bugger all students even know where they are on a map.

I had an American couple come up to me and a mate while we were sitting in a local park (she had the worst plastic surgery I've ever fucking seen). They talked to us like we were still coming into the stone age.
"We're from America......where Bill Clinton is the President...?" and gave us this look, like, do we even know about the outside world. Shit, all we ever hear about is stuff going on outside of our country, we here know all about every aspect of your elections.
It would seem though alot of Americans have the *where the centre of the world and we're the best country on the planet* attitude....No offence but that patriotic attitude we see all the time (and show in every movie) is a laugh. Your country is getting itself in the poo, big time. It seems alot of you have little repect for one another, the murders, violence, rediculous court cases (OJ Simpson inoccent...my arse!) and the ways in which you can sue each other.
If I were you guys I'd get rid of your talk shows, after you see enough of those, its hard not to adopt a negative attitude, the rediculous amount of absolute fucking inbred morons you have, thats a desease you gotta cure.

Now saying that I don't want to step on any toes. How many of you have that hard core patriotic attitude, nothing wrong with standing up for your country......but if you look around you, does it really seem to fit what you see?.

Freddio- I have been watching this post since you started it. I know you did it as a joke. But, I think you new as well as I did that you would have some "Citizens of the United States" come back and make this thing real heated. Hey, what can I say, you tell people through the media everyday that you are part of the "Greatest Country on Earth" people start believing it and when things like this pop up they feel the patriotic need to answer the call.

I will tell all of you, that like many of you I have been and lived all over the world. I have been in the U.S. Army for the last 14 years and have lived in some pretty diverse places, and have liked something about all of them.

Presently I live in Central Germany which is very Industrial and has some very high taxes (Country wide). I went for a while to Hamburg and Bremen GE which I would move to in a Heartbeat. They are two beautiful cities and if you've never been go check them out.

England is great but I think there is some sensorship in your daily papers and I believe (I could be wrong) but the taxes there are also pretty steep. Besides I have trained with the British Army and I'm told that there is some problems with a good many things in England just like the U.S.

France has got some definite benefits especially in the South.

Panama and Honduras are beautiful but very dangerous if you step the wrong way somewhere you shouldn't be.

Saudi Arabia and Iraq- Sand!!! A very different culture than what I was ever used to.

But I have been in the Balkans recently, Kosovo to be specific and man I tell you what. If you want to know what a hard time is go and visit that place. The war really took its toll on the people there. When I look at that country I think about all of the other ones that I have mentioned plus more and say, "Man I would gladly live in any of those countries."

So to wrap up. I read up above that someone said we should agree to disagree, they're probably right. We each have pride in our own countries and there are defintely places that no one wants to live. So let's say that American television has taken over every corner of the globe and AGREE that some of it is not suitable to "EVER" watch. Let's DISAGREE that any of our countries are worse than the other guys and keep trying to make our quality of life better. All of the countries listed above have one thing that America doesn't have. They all have a long and distinguished history. I am talking about centuries of culture. It was pointed out to me once the Germany has breweries older than America, and it's true. That is something for all of you to be proud of. Whatever America has today it got from you and your country yesterday. We may have improved on it or destroyed it, but that's all part of a free country.

Hey Freddio this should have gone in Random Musings but you new there would be no reaction like this there. Good Job ol' Boy!

My cousin's husband is from Ethiopia. I know people from Russia, Sweden, Denmark, and Peurto Rico as well. That being said, I still love my country, if that somehow makes me an ignorant fool in your eyes. Maybe it's not me who needs to open his mind.

Ragnarok, I have been to this board lately. If you'll direct your eyes to the upper right hand corner you'll see a small, but descriptive title. "Digital Art Forum". Posts like this do not belong here, 'philosophical' discussions as you put it go to "Random Musings".

The very reason I even post here is because of the lack of threads like this (which is incidently why I don't ever go to the Random Musings anymore), not because of what it began as, but what it has become. Freddio was purely making a joke, but to post this and feign ignorance that there was going to be any backlash is just plain silly. Funny how everyone seems to belly laugh but the people from America. Perhaps we should start with the ethnic jokes and the religion jokes. Let us all laugh at the expense of others.

I actually thought it was somewhat funny. But I knew what sort of embers it was stirring. Which made me think differently of it. Sure a sudden slap in the face can be amusing, but don't always expect the guy who was slapped to laugh with all of you.

Most every American who read this post (I can't speak for everyone but by the responses so far, I'm guessing} felt their patriotism (if it existed) a bit insulted. Can we just keep the topic of this board about art?
