Still the heart burns, time so slowly turns
Keeper of the flame, do you hear your name?
Can you hear your my crying?
Still you try and break me
Excuse me while I tell you how to feel
But things return to me that still seem real
Don't want your hate, but the fist I make
For you still no fear, no not by me
So please excuse me while I tell you how I feel
But now the dreams end and now the dreams end
They will never last the night
Please let me hide until the end of the burning light
(inspired by metallica / hero of the day)

the image is pretty cool and I like the flame (although it looks like alien skin filter). The heart just seems a little to big for mine and the weight doesn't look right (the hand doesn't seem to have an problems with a huge wax heart that would weight abit).
I know each to there own, but I'm not a big Metallica fan after the whole Napster incident (I have a couple of their albums).

Thanx for you comments..
I know the heart is to large and heavy to be holded on one hand. But that's not really a issue since i wasn't aiming for a medical respentation of a heart ;-) It's looks overdramatic this way.
And i asure you there is no filter used, actually i really don't have any alien skin stuff installed. Sure i like them, but i never use them.. The flame was made with a burning candle next to my computer and studying the motion of the flame and then try to capture it on the screen..

How about some light sourcing? The candle flame in this case. You can cheat a bit on the shadows, but a strong light direction would improve the pic 10 fold.

Anthony, you just hit'ed my weak spot. Lighting is my main probleem. I can't get the hang of it. very weird stuff..
In photoshop dodge and burn should get the job done, i know..
But i tought i did a rather nice job in catching some of lighting of the flame on to the wax.. But the lightning of the whole picture.. Can't get it right and moody...
It's simply to bright...

Ok.. i TRIED to repaint it.... umm.... well anyway here it is.
judging from the fingers, it seemed that the light source was from the top left. outta the picture somewhere.. so i trieed to apply that to the heart..... heh, but I'm not good at that. Anyway, the flame should also cast an orange shaow on the heart. Hope it helps! (btw, my pic may not be correct) |

It seems like if you make the pic a bit smaller it will look more realistic
For example the pic below was 4 times bigger than the final image
