Hey folks,
I've been away from the forum for awhile. I've been busy setting up business as a freelancer. It's a lot of work to do it officially. Tax IDs, business registration, zoning laws, invoices, contracts, finding clients. I simply want to draw, darn it!
Here's a digital painting I did on the way:

very interesting. i like the perspective on this one. The viewer interaction is also nice. Are you going to stay with the gray tones?
I know how you feel about the freelance stuff!
Wait untill tax time rolls around, then you'll really be sweating bullets. |

It's looking good and I like the feel the colours are creating. I must admit though I don't know what the foreground image is.

Thanks for the comments. I tend to purposely leave my pieces in a sketchy state. It keeps me from overworking them, and I like the mood and look it creates. It can cause problems by abstracting things when I don't really want that, but I like it in this piece - it adds an ethereal quality to the homeless man (see below).
I'll stick with the gray tones i suppose. Actually, these colors overall are rather intense compared to what I usually use. I'm not afraid of color, I just fear its power.
The figure is actually a homeless man holding out a cup, and he's morphed slightly into a pigeon. I think some detail may be lost if you're using a PC, because I created it on a Mac. I wish everyone could use the same Gamma.
Thanks again
