Hiya BooM

Nice pic, even though the shoulders have some issues.... the placement of the arms compared to the neck and the slope of the shoulders seem wrong.
The face is great.
Are you abandoning Photoshop?
Even though I have very little time to paint these days, I do a little work in Painter now and then.

Nice picture. The painting looks good, but just a few issues. Neck looks too long and the smoke is too thick. It should be a little more transparent. Cigarette looks a little long too. Arms look a little funny, maybe, just a little too 'man'ly.

The shading in the shirt is awesome though. I really like it. Face is also awesome and the detail is rad. um.. The hair looks a little too rigid. Kind of like it's one piece. Hair should flow (kind of like Charlie's Angels).. Anyway, painting looks amazing, just the little anatomy probs.

K-rad, keep postin' pics!

great pic!

please don't make that hair any more flowing or that cigarette smoke any more transparent.
i happen to love that angular style of yours. but i agree about the issues in the shoulder/chest area. the pose doesn't read as well as it could because of that...
very saturated colors but chosen with very good taste. good stuff.

hey boom great pic! I really like the style to it. The tones and style on the face resemble Glenn Fabry a little to me and that is a fkkin class thing cause fabry is a king! ..her left arm is maybe looking a little too long tho, bringing the elbow in a little might look better.. Keep 'em coming man!

Personally Boomstick, I think you have a very unique style, everyones different of course but theres something that stands out about your work. I will over look certain *so called* anotomical errors or what not because everything seems very deliberate, and these slight distortions actually add to your work. Dig those flat opaque backgrounds, all'n'all your stuffs starting to look really prof.

Keep it up!

I dunno what you're aiming for with this, but it's stylish none the less. Cool slouching pose

It is nice boomstick, especially like the t-shirt, and the way you captured the warm reflections on it.

I really like it, great job BOOM!!

I agree for the arms \ shoulders problems.
And the neck should be more dark on the top left hand side ... or may be it's a shape problem ... well something

Overall I like the colors and the 'angular' style. And the face ... wow! love it

Nice one BooMSticK. I really like the hands, and the folds of the shirt. Nice style.

Do you paint these at this size, or at a higher res?

Hmm... the server will only let me post maximum 8 images in one post... Does smilies really count as images...anyway...just to show the sketch which I actually like more than the painting itself...go figure.. Read the replys below, please....

thanks for the replys guys..I'll just take one at a time...And I obviously couldn't include my replys in the previous post..

ko - thanks... Yes, I guess you can say that I'm abandoning PS, but just for this type of paintings. Matte paintings or largerscale stuff I'll probably still do in PS. Also sketching is still faster in Photoshop..

Dives - hmmm

Bare Bones - I'll deal with the anatomy stuff later... I did the hair very graphic on purpose.

Strangefate - thx

Janne - thx. I didn't want to do realistic smoke or hair for that matter... so I won't change it...

Cos - Have you seen the new book containg all of Fabrys covers for Preacher? Great stuff. You'll love it.. Published by Vertigo. Go buy it today! And thanks for the comparison...going red....

burnout - thx

Rhomb - thx..

Lukias - Very flattering. But you're right on. I probably could look into anatomy books to get those arms/shoulders just right... But why should I? I'm not striving to do realism here. And acually the long arms and neck WAS done delibratly, It might be even more obvious in the skech... at least I think so... thx again

Frost - thx dude.. very much appreciated

Muzman - Not really aming for anything... just playing around eheh..

Pierre - thank you very much..

Faz - thanks... Hmmm. Can't ignore that most of you guys mention problems about anatomy...

n8 - art? what is art? really?

rdgraffix - thanks... This one was painted in the size you see here.. Still think that Painter is too slow when it comes to highres painting... Can't wait to upgrade my computer

Now I see the sketch the pose looks like she's really slouching, butt against the wall etc. If you were after a more realist look you could put a few shadows on the wall and make it all really stick out (but I'm sure you know all this )

Cos- yeah. get the book.. really nice stuff in it, and some quite funny commentary too.. And lots of sketches...

Muzman - yes.. your're right. But didn't really wanted to do anything special in the background... Kinda like those flat colors, which is probably why I do them all the time...

Sear - thx
