Hi all, I was trying to find a good book on anatomy concerning fantasy races, such as dragons, elves, etc.

Is there any such book out there? If so I would be grateful for any suggestions, thanks. Also, if there are some web sites with similar information that would also help, but a book would be great.

I don't think there are any books out there regarding this.. but, just go surf on the net a bit and then find apicture of all hte races. In generaly.... they're just warped portions of the human anatomy. For example, elves are known to have pointy ears... and hey..if it still doesn't look like an elf add a hat and maybe a bow and arrow. Just use your imagination.. for example, dwarves are just short fellows with red beards/hair and huge axes. Giants.. big ass versions of humans etc.

Most fantasy creatures are derived from nature. Get yourself a good book on human anatomy and then make a hobby of collecting animal anatomy books (of which there are many just go look).

Something complicated like a dragon is most often simply a mix of various fairly common creatures. You will find that most dragons are shown to have wings very similar to those of bats. Couple that with some knowledge of reptiles and you should be set. Sure you might be able to find a book that has:

CHAPTER ONE: How to draw an Ork.

But is this really what you want to do? Study the approved ORK design? What could be better than to get down and dirty with pig anatomy and figure a cool way to throw it on to a human body?

<Pause>(...........looking over my words...."What could be better than to get down and dirty with pig anatomy......?" Hmmm...I do believe it's time to go outside and not think about any of this anymore...)

I had one, but i lost it. Along with my "Traceable Drawing Styles" book and my "5 Creative Ideas to Impress Your Friends With" book.
I was thinking of getting a "How to Draw Like Everyone Else: the Voodoo Methods" but itw was a bit out of my price reange.

Use your imagination man. That's what fantasy is.
