i know this may be frowned upon by some folks but anyway... i did do the exercise in the book, Drawing on the right side of the brain, of course, cuz i just got it, and I liked the horse pic alot. Anyway, I'm looking for a crit of the painting here, seeing as how i don't really know what im doing with it, thought some of you might be able to give me some tips, in your elderly wisdom...

Ya, There's some gray specs around, but you get the idea.
Oh and it was quite a bit larger before, says some 300% larger.

ya it was drawn by hand... due to the exercise... but i wanted to try painting, cuz i haven't done too much. I didn't really try to use different pigments, but I'll see what I can do.

Loukus is my real name, it's slavic, being from the house of goon in finland, their motto is 'Peace or war'.

Jl stands fer Joel Loukus, being my name.

Was referring to the knight. (I wouldn't really know when it comes to the horse)
The dude is sitting a little far up the horse (he's in pain, if ya know whatamean). Also the horses neck could do with a bit of lengthening.

Okay uh... I really don't know what I'm doing with this but,...I tried to fix up the horse's skin tone and uh... here a link...
http://geocities.com/loukus

there are three pictures, the first one is a layer I made to overlay onto the second picture, the original horse from the post, the third picture is with the new layer, I'm looking for a critique of the skin tones here, as in if they... well, look real and are varied.

To be honest..... you need to work on the picture a bit more. Stop using that burn and dodge tool but instead just pick a darker or lighter color and brush it on.... you'll get better effects and a better end result. In the meantime... I think you need to study a bit more. putting shadows randomnly isn't going to cut it. Also, the head position of the knight is a bit awkward as the helmet doesnt let them turn their head that much... (nor can you turn it that much without a bit of pain in real life.)

Thought I might pipe in a moment and remind you that you are drawing both a human form and a horse, two of the MOST difficult subjects to render correctly. And worse yet there is contact between them. VERY BIG undertaking I don't care who you are. Keep up the good work.
