This may be an old discussion but just wanted to post a link to some guys I thought give great art. Look at the following link and check out guys like Frazetta, Frezzato, Manara, Ross, etc. Some great styles. Also there's a guy named Adam Hughes that's been around for awhile that's doing some rich stuff if you ever do a search.

All the Heavy Metal artists
Frezatto is really awesome. He's got a real unique style. Kinda Kevin Eastman meets Manga with a real good grasp of form.
Those scans need a de-screening

Max Frezatto is a great guy and a honest to god Italian. He draws like a madman. The HM movie definaly has a lot of Moebius influence, but I don't think the man himself had any direct input into the film. Two of the stories actually are pretty seriously Moebius-ent: The cab story, and the last one (the gaurdian?) so I think they are based on his work. Moebius help found the original Heavy Metal Magazine in France about 30 years ago so that seems sort of natural. There is a neat making of Heavy Metal the Movie book that has some interesting insights into the animation process. I saw it last year at a Comic Con in Italy but it might be out of print. It would have all your answers I think. |

Thanks for the link! I'd never heard of him before, but his artwork is fantastic. I'm really inspired by it.

talking about HM... I saw an old film called Heavy Metal that was about a green ball and there were differents pieces of different artist and the last one was about an amazon on a strange flying dinosaur. I've always thought it was made by Moebius that last piece. Someone can tell if I'm right? |
