Hot diggity! That's a nice pic. I like how you just left her sword and boots and stuff as line work with a minimum of color. It really works well.
[EDIT: Red is definitely better than green OR blue. ]

Looks very cool, Vortx. I'm weak for red-heads. I especially like the shoes. I don't know why, but i always look at the shoes first.
I've actually done a quite simillar drawing, but it's in a very rough stage at the moment.
Will post it when i have time to finish it.
Cheers,
Mikael

I tried to color it but it does not look all that good.. here is it anyway.
If one of you has time maybe you could give some examples for dramatic lighting here?
keep up the great work vortx |

Kinky Boots.. gotta love those Kinky Boots!! Man I'd pay to get kicked by her..
Hey Vortx that's real nice, I always have trouble drawing full length poses but you've got the whole thing spot on I'd have a go at colouring but I've got so much of my own stuff to do at the mo.. Maybe thicken up some of the lines.. but very nice stuff..

Awesome drawing as usual! Feng your designs are just incredible, not to mention you have a definitive style!
I'm finishing up a bunch of my deadlines, plus I'm dying to get to some of my personal paintings for some "down" time.

Here's a quicky, sorry for doing just a bit, but I'm dying for time... plus keep in mind that this is like "work" for me...

Here is my quicky version. Really just playing around with it. I looked at liquid! and Rinaldo's versions while I was doing it. So if something looks simular its probably because I was trying to get the same texture. I screwed up on the skin tones.. I'll correct them later maybe.

Very nice, everyone.
Maybe I have to do this one too. Everyone else seems to be.
First, I want to point out to everyone, the depth Liquid created in her face and her breasts. Look at her nose, for example.
Chapel was able to recreate that a bit.
CHAPEL: Becareful, her legs flatten out in some areas. The crotch specifically, and just below her hip bone, on her right. Look at Liquids, he has a strong smooth shadow around the outmost edge of her face. Yours again, flattens out a bit there. (Just a little. Compared to his, anyway.)
And I think you were trying to create the same kind of gradual light change from top to bottom that Liquid had. But her torso and legs are a shade darker than her shoulders, and I just don't think it's working properly.
Very nice job on the abs. And her face. Other than were I said that I thought it is flattening out, you did a great job on highlights. And please, do something with the background. Oh, and green, blue and red don't match. She doesn't have any fashion sense? I'd change the panties to match her top.
NEX: I'm guessing that, by asking about dramatic lighing, you realize that her skin is much darker than her hair and clothing. The clothing and hair are too bright. It looks like you used dodge? And I think the skin is too dark. Even the too out. I think you should be able to look at the other samples here to get a good idea about how to go about adding highlights to the skin. (Which don't really seem to have much.)
RINALDO: I already talked about yours... Though I still thing a strong blue or pink rim light across her skin and clothing would help. You said that there was blue on her skin, but I really can't tell.

I redid the skin tones and posted it next to my first attempt. I'm not going to do anything else with this one. I just wanted to color it to try different stuff. Can't wait to see Vortx's painted version. By the way, I didn't do a background because I think this looks better as a concept image and not a scene.
Vortx, I apologize if I totally hacked up your picture.

Right, I thought I'd give this thing a go too. That's what came out. And I was too lazy to jot in a background color. Shame on me :/

That is one awesome pic and those are some awesome colorings.
Heh, she must have incredible strength in her right hand. Either that or the sword is embedded in her butt. =) |

Hope you didn't mind a newbie trying to color this. I posted my first go at it, but it was kinda quick. And made some mistakes. The second attempt took me all day to do, but it was worth it. I appreciate you giving us rookies something to practice with. Here is the second go around with background and a second pic with just the character.
Please be brutal with these. That's the best way to learn.
I couldn't get the images to both show, so here is the link to the page containing both images.

digitalinfamy: That is pretty funny. When I first started coloring it I was going to do a kabuki face on mine too, but I remembered Vortx was doing a red head so I changed it. Your colors are not necessarily bad, but they take away from the original linework. In some cases you changed it completely. Then the drawing loses its consistency. Start simple and then work your way up. |

Don't have much time to write...
Wow! These colored versions look great. I'm learning a lot by looking at them. It's interesting to see all the different styles and color schemes. Thank you all for helping me out. I'll try to paint it myself sometime this week...
I'll write more in detail after work. Thanx again..
and i can post a higher res version if anyone wants one....

I'd be grateful if you could post a high res Feng. after spenging all that time it's a shame to have the lines look pixelated when the pic at a decent size.

Vortx: NIce stuff, as par usual. I really love your style. I'm going to give this a shot coloring too.
Nex: I like the color scheme, it reminds me of something but I can't quite place it.
Rinaldo: What do you do for a living? Because I'd love to see a comic colored by you. I'm curious how you did the metal effects on this and your other pictures. Would you share the secret with us? or is it an ace you'd like to hold on to?
Liquid!: pretty slick for a quickie.
Chapel: I like the first Skintone better. But the second one looks like she's just come in from severly cold weather so if you stick some snow on her head and rosey up her cheeks and nose a bit more you're set! ha ha
kig: That looks like marker to me. what did you use?

I used the paintbrush tool in Photoshop, mostly hard edged brushes with some smoothing with soft edged ones. |

Whoa, I checked out your site Feng, awesome stuff. I only found this forum recently and I'm stoked at the quality of everyone's work here. I hope I can post some stuff that does the rest of the work here justice.
Once again, excellent work everyone.

Dean Welsh-I do nothin' for a living. hehe I'd love to see a comic coloured by me as well Even more I'd like to see my name on the credits of some game with the word "artist" next to it. Only time will tell.
I don't believe in secrets, especially when they're technical tomfoolery like the textures. Not that it's an easy thing, but the technique is technical as opposed too skilful if you know what I mean.
I posted the colouring in it's own thread and when quizzed about the textures I explained a little.
Heres the thread
http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/005961.html
And for everyone else just so it looks complicated here's the layers pallet
I will explain this better because I think it's pretty vague. I can also send a 600 pixel (that is what I was talking about in the other thread, not dpi...my bad..changed it now) or similar ver of the PSD to anyone who wants one. I would upload it but I'm running out of space....actually I might get some more room someplace and upload it. Idunno doesn't matter.
I am using the layer names that I described in that little tut I did way back, so if it sounds like gibberish then have a look at.... where is it....here we go, this thread.
http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/Forum2/HTML/004912.html
it might make things a bit clearer.
I'm away for a day but after that I can explain it in detail. just tell me what bit's you want fleshed out (probably all or it).
Thanks for the high res feng. It was just about the right size you should probably start putting a sig on stuff that other people are going to colour. Is it ok if I put this in my portfolio as a colouring piece, I'll put some text with your name and site credited as pencils + inks. I need some stuff that isn't my own drawing but I've coloured. Colouring your own stuff is a lot easier 'cos you draw things that suite your own style if you know what I mean. Anyway I'll happily refrain if you object |
