I did this last month right before a lil' trip to Dallas.
It took me hmm an hour and a half I think and I'm prolly going to try more at it.

I tried to follow Jason's advice on the study of brush-strokes but I think I have to adjust the sensitivity of the pen in Painter... Because pushing like a MADWOMAN on it will snap the nib or something

Gosh I looke like I had a hormone therapy and just rose from a morge table.. brr....

Mind you it's obviously not completed.

Brilliant....I think maybe you could add to it by having some heavier strokes, flatter, defined, more opaque blokes of colour.
The style you have now though is great, I really like it. Finish it up and repost, I'll be looking forward to it!

blue lighting is really popular in comics, as ambient or the 2nd light source. also if your painting a portrait in front of a monitor the light coming off it is usually blue (anyone know why that is)

thanks guys
Lukias: Absolutely. I changed the sensitivity of the pen in painter and the brush strokes now are much more easyer to have in full pressure without having to push like nuts on the pen.. I should've done that before and avoid those 3427357 brush strokes on the dark cheek.
Thanks for the encouraging I thought I'd just put it away in a dusty folder but I'll rework it

Tinusch/CapnPyro: yep the blue lighting is due to the monitor.. I had a stamp sized mirror duck taped to my pc tower while doing that ehehehe
