This i really enjoyed doing. I've never really sketched exactly the same way as i do with a regular pencil in Photoshop. It's so soft! I love it. I mainly focused on the expressions rather than trying to make it look like me. i spent 5 minute on each.
I think this is a really good and fun excercise.

You have the head expression thing down. Very very nice. now what I want to know is...Can you match a full figure sketch to the head expression?

can you show that body language supports the expression..or counters it depending on what you want to express?

I did some pencil sketches today. Actually they were facial expressions. Yeah. I agree that it's absolutely fun. I'll try to post some work as soon as possible.

Poxen, I did it with a mirror. Both me and Joachim have a mirror at work so that we both can see our drawings flipped, but it's also very good for exercises like this.
I used the mirror for doing the heads.
Yes, i have heard about the Loomis book. In fact we have it at work(Joachim bought it)
It's very good and i recommend it deeply.

last 2 ones. The second last one is the best i think. Keep on doing these! It's fun and you'll learn a lot.
Jason M: I've added a body to the second last head that i posted first and tried to make a pose that matched. Does it look right?
I hope that i have'nt misunderstanded totally.

I hope we can keep this thread as an place for exercises like this.

Yeah, I've started to wear glasses.
A couple of weeks ago i started to get migraines, and i found out that i need glasses when i work in front of the screen.
Glad i just have to wear them at work. Feels clumsy.

The answer is right in front of you, just put it down as it is and analyse it at the same time. The 5 minutes and 30 secs are
intense 5 minutes and 30 secs. Learn to observe and work with the whole and you'll see things goes much faster and smoother. I still have a long way to go when it comes to that.

Looks very good, poxen. I have small tablet myself. I like the way you described the nose area. Just keep on doing this. Plan and observe closer more before getting the lines down. That way you'll get your drawing cleaner. Add a bit of the shoulder too so that you see that the head is connected to the body(it'l give a better impression in general too). I also would recommend drawing full figures too, maybe using your friends or something if your having problem problem finding a class.
