Yup. Had some time and doodled up some stuff and worked on that Yoda picture from long ago. Just desktop clutter I'm not really planning on finishing more.

Boba Fett's arm pose is a bit kooky. His elboes are too close to his side. It makes it look like a dance move. Pretty cool though.

Tinusch: He he thanks.

McSteed: I guess that deserves a little explaination. Whenever I draw "Kung Fu" poses I always end up making them in Really uncomfortable Goofy poses, I think it's a result of taking martial arts and the Unnatural stuff they make you do.

Anyway the theory was that he's doing that Bruce Lee thing WOooooOO. ha ha

Nightime: I'm glad you like it, I've never done a landscape before I'm really not sure where to start.

However, landscapes are probably where I'm going to spend a lot of my time now. because well... I really should do it.

TurboYVR: Ha ha Oh yeah. I forgot to state that The the Lightsabre nunchucks were dreamed up by Morgan Purdie of Jawaforce fame (http://www.lortaphanble.com). And as to him holding the blade THE FORCE!!! haha

Thanks for takin' the time to comment everyone. I think I might polish this Boba Fett one a bit more and send it in to some StarWars places as fanart just for fun.

If you're planning on polishing up the Yoda one, which I think you definitely should, add a stronger green light on Yoda and make some shadows on the ground.

You drawing is incorrect. The things that are most bothersome are Fett's feet. They resemble posts more than feet. And his right leg should show that it's supporting his weight better. His right arm is also too close to his body, it looks as if it's going into his body. You have good rendering on the image but you have to concern yourself with the basic anatomical forms before anything else. And maybe look at some clothing folds from real life for thqa cape and Yoda's tunic.

These are the same mistakes I made in the beginning, so I apologize if I sound tough on you, but once you see my points you'll smack yourself for realizing how easy the fixes are.

good luck

Thanks for the heads up GC. The leg position is actually almost exactly how my original sketch of the thing looked.

Here's roughly the pose I was going for. I wanted it to be a really Contorted looking Bruce lee type pose.

(note: Of course I make this AFTER I've got the picture polished up.)

Dean

you are almost there with the update one. Some more consideration. Put yourself into that pose. Notice that if your leg is bent like the characters left leg (the one on our right) and the feet are that wide of a distance apart from each other, the legs wouldn't be bent into a u-shaped form like you have it. That is called the horses stance in the martial arts. If the legs were that far apart the right leg would have to have some influence toward the center pull, causing it to bend kind of like the way i have it.(unles the character is doing some gymnastics) Right now the character is not in a very defensive position, etc. Now I'm not sure of your intentions, but if they were fighing you have to put yourself in those poses if you are troubled by how they should look. Get a full length mirror, or if you have a younger sibling (don't do it with older ones, they could hurt you) make them get into the position and watch how the body sits on a central axis. When one mass bends one way it falls into the next mass lower than it like a kind of puzzle, etc.

In addition to what I already mentioned, you would also get some rotation emphasis on the torso, which would cause the shoulders to end up like they were in the Boba art. with even more emphasis on the turning away from our view factor.causing us to see less of his shoulder (left one) in the back

But do that look in a mirror and notice how the masses fall into one another, and sketch these positions, verrrryyyy loosely, like your sculpting something and you just move clay around side to side, don't worry about details, just get the movement, then the form, and you'll see that the details, could be simply filled in. Try to see the center line in the body, it's a good help to understand how the masses rotate and group.

does that help?

Keep going, I want to see the new masterpiece!

later

And if that's Poser used to get the form, try not to do that. Learn why the body does what it does, it will be more beneficial in the long run. It's an easy way out, and it may be hurtful if you rely on it too much.

Kibadachi (Horse Stance)is exactly the stance I was going for.

Here's roughly how I ended up standing.

I put one foot up on the couch to make it seem like the hill was there.

My weight Distributed itself to the back leg which ended up just barely behind me. as I've illustrated.

Now does this look more like it should Or am I just some sort of mutant freak?

As to Poser, Well I havn't done it before, and well, I guess I won't start.

You got it mutant freak

Just don't let that leg (Boba's rght one get too straight, cause you have to account for the perspective we are viewing him at, so let it bend toward the middle- look at the figure as a silohouette - copy the shape of it into a channel and fill the shape with white and see with the straight leg it gets a little stiff) You got it on your sketch, exaggerate it a bit more, (not too much) and by george I think you got it.
