I just heard about this forum and I think it is pretty cool. It is nice to see so many here just cause they like art. So in that spirit i did a sketch for fun and I thought I would share it.

Blast away, and no I am not doing one with no clothes

That is spectacular.. I love that style as well. Would you be at all interested in doing sort of a tutorial for us Painter-illiterate people? I would be very interested in seeing how you guys do what you do in that god forsaken program =)

Again, awesome job man. Keep it up.

It's a photoshop picture, not painter. I am still screwing around with painter. I think like you, it is a god-forsaken interface. I hear Painter 6 is more like photoshop? Anybody care to comment on whether or not things have improved interface-wise?

How did you get the look of a nondigital drawing in Photoshop?

I learned to paint with gouache, which is a flat opaque watercolor. It was nice to learn with that because most people start with oil, and they smudge it around and never really learn structure. You can't blend gouache, so you have to find the edges of your forms and put a real value change there.
So in digital terms, leave the airbrush and smudge tools alone and use a flat brush. I think the give-away for digital is the slickness. Finding the edge of forms is the first step to good shape design. Hope this helps!

I mailed Craig Mullins and got a lil info on
how to work on a large scale.
He mostly told me to do plenty of
sketching in a book! Because it can help you.
good advice...i'm starting to sketch madly!
he says complete books per month, and you'll rock the ruckus =)
oh, and i'm working on a new work...
you guys haven't really seen any of my finished stuff...just some weird blurred pics i was working on before.
when im finished -when its done
ill post =)
or if i get nuff pressure, ill throw up a lil something

Cool pic! You really captured the feeling of goauche. Ive been using goauche lately, its the best. Especially if you can't stand the smell of oil paints

The smell of permanent white Windsor newton gouache makes me want to curl up in a ball on the couch and go over really old cancelled checks.... It has been a while.

If you don't like oil paint smell, try using turpenoid or odorless paint thinner. Doesn't smell at all.

all colours looks slightly darker on a pc than a mac, it's to do with the system colours etc... and it's a real pain when doing interface design for cd-rom's and the web...

:: different subject ::
anyone ever heard of Lingo (the programming language of Macromedia Director - I can't find anyone else who has/is doing it...) If you know anyone who does, or you know a bit of Lingo yourself, I'd like to bounce some ideas/tips/tutorials around...

Sorry to bring up an OLD topic, but I just purchased 12 40ML jars of Gouache paint. I got them because I thought i could blend them, silly me.

Luckily, im following in Spooges footsteps without even knowing it! *yes, i do feel special* Could someone let me into the secret of how to use this stuff??? It's kinda difficult seeing as though i've never used it before. I know Fred is GREAT with it, and apparently so is spooge and i'm almost 100% positive i've seen some of Mikael's work in this medium also. someone, help! **please?**

that's pretty fucking annoying ex. Why can't you just start a new thread with a subject "need help with gouache"? you fucking guy, I hope you choke on your paint brush fucking bastard. And following in craig's footsteps doesn't make you special. It makes you unoriginal and lame. You are a true piece of shit guy. I hope you die.
