Hi, here is my first Photoshop painting, i did with a Tablet. Its a portrait of Angelina Jolie, 50% finished, reference used. Well, I'm 15 years so i dont think it looks very bad but Im unhappy with the skin, so I think I mainly have to work on it.

Ah.. feedback please

Daaaamn, nice pic man... Im awaiting for you to finish it. I know it'll turn out great seeing it 50% done... that plus Angelina Jolie is a hottie... anyways, blah blah blah.

Photo-reference or Photo-trace? cause these two line up exactly, and the lips are 100% identical.

I used a smaller reference picture. I need this for the basic shape of the face. I painted the lips and eyes in a 2000px x 2000px resoltion, for this I often used the photo and create a guide on it, colored and smudge it.

The lips are identical. No brush strokes on your version...don't EVEN try to lie about that...

yeah i agree with sewerat.. compare the pics.. no difference in the lips.,

yeah, if u look at those lips it looks like they were traced and pasted on. It doesn't connect well with the rest of the face. And for the amount of similar details in the lips, the same cannot be said for the rest of the face. Although I think their are some small differences. Look at the right bulge of the lower lip in the painting. There is a slightly sharper highlight than the picture I think

comparing the images now... except for the edges every colour pixel is the same.. but because one version was in a bad quality there's a few colours missing but I found some spots that can prove similarity...

I think the lips are cut and pasted onto the
painting, the same with some of the parts of the eyes.

what is your goal with this ?
Tracing the image, colors and blurr between. Now it looks like a ruined photo, with enough work you might end up getting it to look almost like the photo, but you haven't learned anything from it and it can't be used for anything.

Joachim: Sorry, this is my first try in Photoshop painting. When you never draw befor its not important how, why, what you draw, my main focus was to see what is possible with the programm and the tablet.

Micke: the eyes and lips arnt copy and pasted. I paint them in a new, large file and past them, thats why it doesn't connect correctly with the rest of the face. I had to do this because its hardly possible to paint in a large resolution on a PC with 64mb RAM. I paint the two eyes, the lips and the left and right part of the face in a separate file and put it together.

Yup... that being the one bit you actually painted.

Please try and post pics that you've done entirely yourself as people here are usually more than happy to encourage people and offer advice where the painting is genuine.

I mean you could of at least painted a new pic and used the color pic to get the colours
