Hey everyone, I haven't been posting my art up much in the last few months because I didn't really think it was worth it (my pics are kinda crap).
But I think it's been having a detrimental effect on me because I feel like my learning process is slowing down. I still need fresh eyes to see my stuff to help me improve.
Here are some pics I've done lately. I'm only displaying one of them too keep the download to a minimum. The rest are linked:
I did this last night. It was a sketch I did a year ago inspired by Dhab's "Broken" image. I'm not much of a painter so I forced myself to use the technique. I was really unsure about the lighting throughout the whole process. Any tips on painting are much appreciated. I've always had trouble trying to grasp this.

Another airbrush portrait I did a couple of months ago. I used photo reference.

A pic that I inked then coloured in PS. I designed it, but I don't think it's too original. Oh and don't comment on the pose, I really didn't know what I was thinking when I thought that one up.
Oh and I completely redesigned my site, so if you would comments or suggestions on the design would be appreciated. If it comes up looking weird in your browser or computer, please tell me.

Here are some head sketches I did. Each about 3-4 min sketches, no reference. If anyone could give me some good advice on technique, anatomy, and any other tips, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again, you don't have to crit everything, just whatever.

I really love your style, you have a strong anime feeling in your pics, even the britney spears portrait have this style (remind me a little the characters from FF8 in the CG movies)
And i think britney looks a lot less stupid in your pic, she even may appear intelligent (j/k), well i love the result
And in fact I like the pose of your mech too
And I really like these head sketches, especially the lower right one. |

hey you've improved alot Jason.
I think you should continue drawing manga, you seem to be strong in that field. Try doing some cellshading(the anime way!) on the DBZ inks you have there. Would look rad.
im too tired to give any constructive critism, sorry Looks nice anyway

Thanks guys
Mime: I've been doing a bit of manga stuff a lot in the past few months. I always wanted to explore it more. But I find it limiting (inking then cell shading). Sometimes it feels like a chore rather than fun.
Hahah. Britney, intelligent? Wow!
Binke, thanks for your input! I have done some cell shading of my inks, they're all around my harddrive somewhere, I'll post it up another time. But like I said before, cell shading is alright, but after a while, I find that it gets boring.
Sa'ge: Thanks for your observations. I have a problem with colour theory (I tend to stick to primaries). I guess I need to draw and paint from life more. I'm stuck in cartoon land
As for the plastic forehead, it's probably the smoothness of the airbrush. I got no idea how to remedy that.
If anyone else could reply I'd really appreciate it.
I tried to make this post more worthwhile instead of a post with one ten second sketch (you get the idea). So thanks again.
