I've watched this forum for a while, but this is my first post. I've been working on this drawing of a gargoyle moonbathing on a beach.
So far, the comment I've heard most often is, "Did someone twist his dick?". I don't know, to me it seems to be in correct perspective. I might add some pubic hair on him.
The foot bothers me a bit. Also, working without any reference, I'm not sure what the ideal shading for the face would look like.
Any criticism, positive or negative, is welcome. Have at it! |

Gargoyle's reproduce? I must have been reading the wrong book...
I don't think andding hair will help that area at all. Just what I think. Personally, I think his Mr. Pop'n should be left out. Curve out the crotch area, leave out the third leg. (I wish the perspective of my Happy man was like that LOL... Did I type that out loud?)
YOINKS!

I just don't really understand why someone would draw this. Several things I could say about this, but when I see pictures like this it just makes me think the artist feels they need cheap tricks to draw attention to their work.
By the way, it reminds me of that movie Porky's. "You been screwing around corners with that thing?" |

It's really that crooked, huh? I still don't see it.
This is a commissioned drawing for someone who insists that his gargoyle be naked. It's not up to me what these people want, but I'd like to do the best I can with what I have been asked.
Gargoyles reproduce! At least the Disney animated-type gargoyles do. Normally their loincloths keep you guessing. |

I'm not sure what is more disturbing then.. you painting this or someone paying you to paint this.
Well, here is a tip (no pun intended). Draw a center line on it. Tip to sack you'll see it curves to the left of the picture. Sorry if my medical terms offend anyone. |

I know it's stunning, but can anyone comment on something other than his groin?
I appreciate the comments though, thanks for taking da time droogs. I'll work on his wanker and partially submerge his foot into the surf. Maybe add some texture to the wing flaps.
Any ideas on how to make the background more interesting? (add a crab? that might frighten him off the beach) |

Just a thought, where his left wing overlaps the other, it should be twice as opaque or half as translucent, however you want to put it. Hopefully that makes sense, it's kinda late. Also, a few shells or starfish, or a palm tree behind the hill, could liven things up a bit.
One thing keeps nagging me: You've got the gargoyle outlined, but nothing else is. The outline itself is inconsistant as well. You may want to eliminate the linework completely; it would unify the piece well. And... good work. Bye.

Ok I'm going to be the first to say that this image, nudeness or not doesnt bother me. Its someone's expression, that makes it art. Not only that they made money off it, thats a win win situation.
Now as for the image I like the translucency of the wings quite a bit. At first, thanks to the harsh light on the upper most wing flap, I thought that the skin was reflective, but I figured it out after a moment. As for something to improve on besides his groin, why not work on the shading a bit more? It seems VERY bright for moonlight, even if he does have yellow skin.

What are you playing at ? I dont really understand why you'd draw a dick on the gargoyle, but I really dont understand why you drew it semi-errect, half of it is pointing up , but then the upper part of it is limp, whats going on ? Though I suppose Gargoyles are supposed to be scary. And seeing as though gargoyles are like statues, they would not be able to have pubes.

To elaborate on Hew's point...
The setting definitely needs some work. The only thing that tells the viewer he's moonbathing are the stars in the background. For a moonlit night, I'd suggest making the gargoyle dark with a dark blue-gray tint to him. Then make the brighter highlights from the moonlight.
This is just a really quick example of what I mean...
