Hi there.
I want to add some details to the silhoutte in this picture, but I'm not sure I know how to implement colour and lighting properly.
Does anyone know of any rules or anything about defining shades from black? How do you take the lighting into account when considering the original colour of the surface that you are painting? If I recall there was an art movement where people basically painted from black.
For instance, if the slate roofs in the pic are meant to be red, then is it best to start from red as though the lighting is white and then go over it again in the atmospheric light colour(yellow)?
*hears the art purists squeel in horror*

It's okay peeps, we'll leave this question for now!
MaLoRuM: Cheers!
I've decided to do some book research into the subject (Edinburgh College of Art has a HUGE library). When I know a little bit more about this kind of thing I'll put up a post with some info for people who are interested. |
