I'm looking into getting a wacom(aren't we all?). I would like to get a 6x8, and I was wondering if a 5x4 would just be too small. It seems like it would be. Let me know what you all think.

no 4x5 sucks ass. take it from me it's too small and you don't get enough room to do what you want. i plan on getting a larger one asap.

It's not size that matters. It's how you use it... And girdth, of course.

I swear a 4x5 graphire is ablsolutely fine!!!!
and especially if this is your first tablet purchase...
if your truely good at this stuff it shouldn't really matter..
also keepin mind that a tablet doesnt make you an instant digital artist..

Good Grief... 4x5 is perfectly fine. It's all I use. If you are too worried about it, move up a size, but I get tremendous detail from mine. There have been 2 occasions where I wished it were a bit bigger... I was making a series of tiny strokes with the opacity of my brush strokes set too light.
Other than that, it's been a dream. 4x5 is great... I'm guessing the next size up might be better, but over that is purely unnecessary (in my opinion).

Of course I have, which is why I say, going up a size might be better. Still, I'm not sure, as when I did use a larger sized wacom it didn't thrill me so much that my brain felt it had to store the exciting information.
I do, however, remember using a tablet that was over 6" x 9", and it was downright uncomfortable. That's ME, which brings up another thing I already included in my initial post, which was, "in my opinion."
People can start into the argument of bigger is better, but what it all comes down to, is what suits whom best? 4x5 suits me fine. A size up is probably best. Beyond that, it becomes difficult to use in fine detail, which I pride myself in. Here is a sketch I did on my 4x5 on X-mas Day.
To each his own. Is that alright with you?

4x5 is great. I've used bigger, but there's really not much of a difference.
and the little ones come in pretty colours

Work with what you can afford....nothings to small for art. Hell how many of us draw on napkins, envelopes and even smaller. I'm no wacom god....but hell you'll be working high res anyhow uh? I have a 12x12 at work and to me that's way to big....so I end up working on my 6x8 at home. Maybe it's because I'm still new to painting (digitally) or maybe I'm just a retard......whichever you choose. |

the bigger the better.... go for the 6x8 i got a 9x12, and used a graphire at my brother in law's house. while the 4x6 is perfectly fine, i'd say there's a significant different if u use a bigger one. i guess it's easier when u got more room. i'd want a bigger one, but they're much more expensive and don't have enough deskspace, hehe.

No, I really think you need a 45"x70" tablet with a backlight. It's really the only way to go.
In fact, just take your door off the hinges and send it to the Wacom factory with a little note that says, "I need something at least this big".
Trust me. Spooge has to keep his tablet outside. |
