look what i found while going through some old backups i think this was one of the first drawings i did in photoshop. i'm not sure if i did it with a mouse or wacom though...i think it was a mouse drawing. See, we all used lens flare at some point....back in 96 it was still cool

I believe i copied the pose from a comic book.

Whew
That makes me feel better..

Just kidding, its fun to look up old stuff and see the improvment. I like looking at the art I sent to the school I am going to and compairing it to the art I am doing now.

Its good for a beginer. Hehe
And you still did better dinamic lighting than me. Thats what Im workung on but school is getting in the way.

See ya around the forum Dhabih

Hehe go the lens flare you still had it way back then man.

*ahem* I don't want to spam your thread but have you seen how much traffic is going through here recently. we need an update. that additional topic debate has to have some conclusion soon. a few bells and whistles that this BB can accomodate would also help things along.

You know, I still keep old character drawings that I did in high school when I first seriously got into art about four years back. I keep them and look at them to see where I started and where am I now...to show myself how far I've come but to also remember where I came from so that when I see some 'newbie' work I keep in mind the fact that we all started somewhere. I just saw those drawings the other day...I think I should scan a couple in and post them alongside my next creation, hehe...always a slightly humbling experience.

That's your first? - huh, my first one didn't turn out that good, but judge yourself...

My digital shortstory

here it is; that one was my first using Illustrator and Potoshop back in february this year (yes I started late with digital arts )...
I followed a manga technique Rick Grossenbacher tought in a tutorial over at looneygames...
http://digitalart.org/gallery/display.cgi?db=art&uid=default&Category=Science%20Fiction&view_category=1&sb=5&so=ascend&nh=61&mh=1

The same technique I applied on the devil in this logo
www.bluelightning.de

then I tried this one, but didn't finish it

...the next months I haven't had the time to do characters

...and this was the latest venture; you probably know.
I kinda fell in love with Feng's babe

Tinusch: Hahahaha! Cool! You really can see the "lensflare-embarassment"(that a word?) on the jedi-boy's face. And yeah, I've used them, too...I'll look up some old stuff.

Far from being my first, but one of the older images I still have from my days of photo shop pixeling. This is when 256 colors was considered "high color depth" (this image has a total of 11 colors). I did this originally probably around 1992, then updated it in 1994 to read "Metroid 3" instead of 2, which by that time had been released on the GameBoy. Oddly, my ideas for how "metroid 2" would be is pretty much exactly how Super Metroid turned out. Heh.

Work in progress of something more recent (started worked on it for a couple minutes last week) I'll likely never finish. Heh.

Ooh, Ooh, can somebody post some spinning chrome letters,... or maybe a big chrome sphere floating over a reflective, checker board floor with a sunset background. That would be cool!!

I'm feeling happy now.

What about gradients?? Lens flares are definitely 3l33t, but when I was discovering this computer graphics thing, we didn't have any of that modern filter widgetry, the coolest we had was linear and spherical gradients in Deluxe Paint.

Here's a piece of evidence I found on my hd, I think I was 13 when I made this k3wl logo:

And here's a pic from when I was 14, still Deluxe Paint... (these 2 images are my oldest work that I could find)

No gradients in this one though, just a whole lot of very dumb handpixelling

I hope that in 98 it stilled being cool...
I used a lot of lensflares that year !!! ;;;

When (almost) everybody starts with photoshop and see that option seems to be kinda hipnotic !!!

.

See ya !!!

Ah! Really impressive improvement in so few years !!! What about a new tutorial ??? Your "arbiter" image could be a good choice I love that picture soooooooo much!!!!

I have found a picture I did for a Turok-2 contest around late98 or early 99...

And this was other I colored over line-art from my friend Requena !!! ;;;

...

About Gradients --->

Yes!!!, Gradients were really common some years ago !!!

Almost Every 16-bit game had his background gradient !!! And Amiga had some of the most colourful gradients that any sane person could even try to imagine !!! ----

Aaaah... (...tear-dropping...) its sooooooo pretty to remember that age ... ...
