Hey All! I was just wondering if you all knew any good Anime/Manga style sites or any 3d sites. Art obviously. I love dhabihs site, I visit it almost everyday and eagerly await new stuff from him. Also: Anyone know what Anime's I should watch (I've seen Sailor Moon's, DragonBall Z's, Peacock Killers (or something like that) and Luna Varga series). Thanks!

I recommend Ninja Scroll as your anime of choice, or Ghost in the Shell. Both great movies, sept I found Ghost in the Shell to short, and didn't really like the ending. But these two are excellent ones to watch. I watch all of the animes I can get my grubby little hands on, it costs me an arm and a leg cause the SOBs at the movie store won't let me rent them without parents consent.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is also quite a kick arse series IMHO. Check it out at any possibility.

I think some of the best anime I have seen is Gunsmith Cats. It is drawn to look just like a TV show or action movie..... the art is awesome!

If you really want good anime, not only for story reasons but for animation quality, I recommend Studio Ghibli's work. Some good ones are Princess Mononoke (Rent it from somewhere, it is available) and Nausicaa of the Valley Wind. Miyazaki kicks much more ass than that cheap Dragon Ball and Sailor moon crap. I would also suggest some more light hearted anime like Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura by Rumiko Takahashi. Then go for some Bubblegum Crisis. These are all very different styles, but give you a good range to see what you would be interested in. No offense to the DBZ people or anything, but it just seems too... overused? Generic? I dunno. Watch all of them, see what you think. |

3 movies you have to watch:
1) AKIRA
2) AKIRA
3) AKIRA
Best animation/illustration/background work I've ever seen, and it's an older one.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a good one but I personally didn't like the last two episodes (got two weird and looks like they ran out of money making it).
Robotech / Macross is an oldie but a goodie.

Also recommend Spriggen
It follows Akira's steroid-induced style... don't know if it hit American shores yet, since I saw the import. It should/will be a hit.
The visual flare also shares similarities to Metal Gear Solid (PSX game which has fantastic art)
(Hey it's Thernody!!!!! Look at the dates of this thread =-p)

Cowboy Bebop. Akira. GitS. Rurouni Kenshin. And, if you feel like you haven't had enough psychedelia for the day, check out Tenshi Ni Narumon, I like the clean line art and that trippy feeling the show has.

Actually, good anime is noexistant. It's all just a feeble attempt at something interesting and thoughtful.
It's very personal. Don't flame me for this ... |

You could make the argument that all art is a feeble attempt at making something interesting and thoughtful.
You certainly can't say that about all american movies/TV. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Well, I did love the still art from Appleseed, but the animation of the video was just so lacking.
Also yes, where is my mind, watch Robotech, any you can get your hands on (except macross II and macross plus...they are a travesty to the Robotech name).
I personally enjoyed 3rd generation (Invid Invasion) more, not because of the characters (who's better than rick hunter? his name is naughty) but because of the storyline, it was a very linear quest. A point A to point B kind of goal, with adventure in between. I love those sorts of movies/shows. Probably why I liked Teddy Ruxpin so much when I was younger :)
"Where the hell is reflex point!?!?" :)

My personal favorite anime is Record of Lodoss War... It's more of a medieval fantasy, but that's just my style... Lots of hot elven chicks in that series, too... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |
